Lol you wanna rely on Kiersted and Carlsson on the way to the cup? Oof. 68 NHL games between the 2 of them.

The Cup victory isn't decided based on how many games the players have accrued prior entering the race. Besides, Hagg is bigger hazard than those two regardless of the amount of NHL games played.

Zito just purchased another mercenary who is bound to make mistakes because it takes time to learn the system and get familiar with the other players. But no amount of games with the Cats will not offset his lack of talent for NHL action. Just a waste of another draft pick.

I think we will also begin to give Gudas the occasionally day off now that Hagg is here to be honest...Hagg can eat some minutes

Having had both on the Flyers...

you dont want to do that aha.

Gudas is a legit good depth Dman who can be effective as a #4. (as I guess you all know by now!)

Hagg is a #7-8 Dman who can lose you games on his own sadly. And even when not making mistakes is death by 1000 cuts with his bad blue-line D and inability to get puck out of the zone.

Based on what I’ve seen over the past few games, this appears 100% accurate. He’s a step (slide?) slow, doesn’t handle the puck quite well enough, doesn’t pass quite well enough, doesn’t time things quite well enough… it’s not off a lot BUT at this level fractions of seconds and inches count. Hagg brings all these fractions with him and they hurt overall.

Hägg clearly is a depth signing for a steady decent no-nonsense Dman. In Lindbohm we have the big body, and with Carlsson the most offensively skilled among the 3. As Appleyard pointed out, we should not see Hägg on the ice at all when we are healthy, but neither the other 2.

And so far he has not cost us any games at all or was not even close to it... did not see a true brainf*rt yet that ended up in the net

Carlsson was invisible. Carlsson is a decent bottom pair d-man.
You notice Hagg when he struggling to gently lift the puck up the ice to no one in particular, and you also notice when he's barely moving his feet, staring at the puck, while a forward gets in behind him.
Our depth chart should be:
1) Ekblad
2) Weegar
3) Forsling
4) Gudas
5) Montour
6) Lindbohm
7) Carlsson
8) Kiersted
9) Hagg

Honestly dont get the hate for Hagg. Yes he took a hooking penalty to tie the game last night, but that was after a scramble in which Giroux nearly scored and the puck bounced over his stick. It wasnt even a result of bad coverage.

He just seems "there" all game which isnt even a bad thing at all. And it's really weird too cause his underlying numbers are good for a 3rd pair defenseman. He plays an incredibly simple game which isnt a bad thing at all.

hagg has been good for us.. but then again nobody is expecting that much. Carlson got better and made the save of the year. I hope we get him a game or two down the stretch. lindbohm not so much.

Hagg has been bad. He has no defensive awareness, no puck skills, and he constantly gets burned in transition. Carlsson and Linbohm are both decisively better. And it's even more important to have a steady guy on the bottom pair when his partner is someone as unpredictable as Montour.
