The ECHL on Friday released the list of players who received a valid qualifying offer from ECHL teams by the June 30 deadline. ...

Each team was entitled to reserve the rights to a maximum of eight qualified players. Of the eight qualified players, no more than four could be veterans (260 regular season professional hockey games played as of the start of the upcoming 2022-23 season). Players on open qualifying offers cannot be traded.

The qualifying offer must remain open for acceptance until July 16 at which time the qualifying offer becomes null and void and the team may sign the qualified player to any salary or may elect to take no further action. Teams that extend a valid qualifying offer to a non-veteran player shall retain the rights to that qualified player for one playing season. ...

HEARTLANDERS NAME DAMON AS HEAD COACH

Coralville, Iowa – The Iowa Heartlanders announced that Derek Damon has been named Heartlanders Head Coach & General Manager. Gerry Fleming announced he will seek a coaching opportunity overseas in Europe.

Damon was Iowa’s Assistant Head Coach in the 2021-22 inaugural season and helped lead Iowa to 29 wins, which included an above .500 record after December. He was also one of the masterminds behind Iowa’s power play, which finished seconnd in the league with 65 goals. ...

Atlanta's Nesbitt announces retirement

DULUTH, Ga. – Long time Atlanta Gladiators forward and captain Derek Nesbitt announced his retirement from playing professional hockey. Nesbitt ends his 16-year hockey playing career with 804 points (325g-480a) in 1,040 professional games. He also amassed 64 points (24g-40a) in 93 professional postseason contests and captured a Kelly Cup championship with the Idaho Steelheads in 2007.

Nesbitt ranks 13th in ECHL history with 615 games played, tied for 25th with 207 goals, 24th with 331 assists and 23rd with 538 career points. ...

Nesbitt ends his hockey playing career as the all-time leader in Gladiators goals (166), assists (258), points (424), and games played (512). The Seaforth, Ontario native spent nine of his 16 professional seasons playing with the Gladiators, beginning in the 2005-06 season as a rookie. "Nezzy" long served as a part of the leadership core in Atlanta, captaining the team in 2015-16, 2016-17, 2017-18, 2019-20, and 2021-22. ...

So Reading looks to be on their way to the cellar. Their Head coach and almost all their ECHL veteran core walked. The players they have signed were there 3rd and 2nd liners. The club has brought back their assistant coach back as head coach. Unless the flyers send some decent prospects their way. I don't see Reading being in their usual competitive form this upcoming season.

He was named the 2021-22 SPHL Coach of the Year after leading the Ice Bears to a 42-10-8 record, which was the franchise’s first regular season title since 2009. The 42 victories set the all-time regular season record for wins in SPHL history. In five seasons under Carr’s leadership, the Ice Bears combined record was 151-83-24 (.632%). ...

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Kalamazoo Wings, ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Columbus Blue Jackets, announced Thursday that Nick Bootland, former director of hockey operations and head coach, has accepted the role of assistant coach for the Hershey Bears in the American Hockey League.

A staple in the Kalamazoo community since 2005, Bootland transitioned his championship-level captainship of the K-Wings into a historic 13-seasons commanding the bench, starting at age 30.

Bootland departs the K-Wings ranking sixth in ECHL history with 853 regular-season games coached and 437 wins. ...

3 days until Worcester and Maine kick off their home and home preseason slate.... (9/15/16)
Hutch, can you please state why you keep posting and insisting that Worcester and Maine are playing preseason games THIS WEEK? The games are in October, as I have pointed out to you in two previous posts.

PORTLAND, ME – September 8, 2022 – The Maine Mariners and Worcester Railers have announced a pair of preseason games to be played on October 15th and 16th, the weekend before the regular season begins. The Mariners will host the game on Sunday, October 16th at the Norway Savings Bank Arena in Auburn, Maine at 5 PM.

Update on Reading. They still haven't made any major splashes in the free agent market. ECHL website has not covered any of there of season moves so far. If Reading is trying to fly under the radar this offseason the are doing a hell of a job. Time will tell what kind of form they will start the season with.

depends on what the Royals release themselves.....the team just released their promotional schedule today.... you might need a dedicated person to compile them...
