I got one think it would be a more interesting restriction to both bar picking a winner you’ve picked to won before and a loser you’ve picked to lose before, until such time as that’s mathematically impossible.
Because if the game is just “pick the worst team and repeatedly name their opponents” it really isn’t an increasing challenge or, like, interesting. Fun would come if we eventually get tough decisions, which we never would as long as San Jose is playing different opponents.
Sports has a theme of unpredictability that runs through it. If it didn’t, gambling wouldn’t even be a thing. And oh, you and I both are at 2 strikes in 7 compete cycles. I cant speak for you but it’s not so easy for me. Good luck.
I mean it’s a triple elimination. It won’t be a blood bath, it’ll be a papercut to the people who have been riding San Jose opponents since the start that are still unblemished.

The thing about San Jose is that I don't think anyone rode the from the start, I'm sure. Yeah they had a very rough four games to start - Vegas, Colorado, Carolina, Boston - but who in week 5 was honestly telling themselves "yes, the 1-3 Preds are a slam dunk over the 0-4 Sharks who just went through a monster gauntlet" or "the 2-3 Panthers who lost to the Jets and the Kraken are sure slam dunks over 0-5 San Jose" when there were far better picks during those times.
If someone truly thinks San Jose is gonna reverse sweep the league this year, more power to them, but as was said, when San Jose finally wins a game, the field's getting winnowed something fierce.

Yeah it's easy to be an expert after two blowout losses. I'm sure everyone thought SJ will be bad ... but this bad? Can it really continue like this as the season goes on?
They sure as hell won't win against a Torts team... right

Exactly. Whole lot of people get better at this in the past tense. Problem is, the people who said "ugh I just KNOW we're gonna lose to San Jose", then their team wins 10-2, they just washed away like Rutger Hauer's tears in the rain. Myself, of my nine "loser picks", I only have the sharks 3x (Chi 3x, STL, BUF, DET are the others). Obviously, if I knew the Sharks were gonna go off to the reverse races, I'd be a little too busy on my sportsbook of choice to even be here
As for the game against the Flyers, well.. the hockey gods have a WHOLE lot to answer for these days, but watching San Jose come alive and eviscerate a Torts team would be a good first step to atonement, both for the Survivor bloodbath and general cosmic humor.

Tbh I had some last minute change thoughts but could not pick anything else. Only thing I'm really bummed was that first round strike from pens - blackhawks, yukk
