#198 MTL

With the #198 pick in the 2024 NHL draft the Montreal Canadiens are proud and excited to select from Krasnaya Armiya Moskva of the MHL

Ilya Pautov - W - 5’ 10” 165lbs

“Small, but bright with high skill level, great stick handling and playmaking abilities. Displays a quick stick. Is terrific at creating open space for himself, as he immediately cuts to open ice after passing the puck. Highly mobile and elusive, and opponents had a tough time getting a clean hit on him. An excellent playmaker who can attack his own or open up space for his teammates by holding onto the puck and drawing in defenders, opening space for them. His passes are almost always accurate and tricky. He has improved the power and velocity of his wrist shot, which had been a problem last year. Hid weakness is his lack of physicality, his passive defensive play, and his wilting under pressure. The fact that he is high charactered individual, intelligent and confident has me thin king he can speed up his development and iron the deficits out of his game.”

#206 MTL

With the #206 pick in the 2024 NHL draft the Montreal Canadiens are proud and excited to select from Krasnaya Armiya Moskva of the MHL

Maxim Velikov - RW - 6’ 198lbs

1714345136775.png

“He is good skater built like a block of granite and is stronger than the average bear. Smart in his offensive zone and transitional play, and displays strong balance (but lacks an explosive stride) and is very difficult to stop when he has a head of steam, and bowls through checkers, drawing penalties. He is always ready to shoot. Terrific skater who can get his temper going, and then you better watch out! He doesn't seem to be putting worth strong efforts this season, puzzling since he so hockey smart and showed calm but committed efforts each shift. This season he has shown terrific efforts when he is under pressure and feels he has something to prove. I don't doubt an NHL team takes a flier on him in final three rounds, solely based on his potential and continuing maturity.”
