I dont think people realize how absolutely butt f***ed we would've been had Delta hit this winter without vaccines. 80% of our ICU population with COVID is unvaccinated in an area that's nearly 70% fully vaccinated. The climb to population wide immunity wouldve been UGLY, and that's putting it lightly.
This healthcare worker is GRATEFUL for these vaccines. I get filled with resentment toward the unvaxxed because we had to stop some elective cases again due to our ICUs being so full. Had that 80% been vaccinated- we're still doing all of our elective cases.
I try to avoid that resentment, though. Once you witness an unvaccinated pregnant woman unconscious on ECMO, and find out she had a stillbirth- that resentment turns to a deep sadness.
Please, please just get vaccinated people. There are rare side effects like what
@Asymmetric Solution brought up, but the reward outweighs the cost a 100 fold.
I also dont support mandates, either. Not that Im against the idea of them, but I believe theyll cause too much social tension and push more negative narratives around other vaccines. But I 110% support vaccination. Im grateful for these vaccines, man. So f***ing grateful.
