Wasn't necessarily talking about top pairing D, but I will concede that even bottom 6ers would be tough to pry loose.Young surefire top pairing D don't get traded.

And this is a very important part and why I truly feel we should also be going all in for that 11th overall pick.this team doesn't really have any established young high end assets outside of Reichel and Bedard, until proven otherwise the rebuild is nowhere close to over until that number is in the double digits and we can fill out the rest of the roster via smart outside acquisitions, we need to see production at the NHL level before we can even begin to pencil in any of these kids long term, all it takes is a short glance at prior organizational prospect rankingson this board to see how many will amount to replacement level players, on average
Yeap....the only 3 pieces we have filled are Bedard, Reichel, and Seth Jones. Bedard is a first liner (just need to sort out if that is at center or wing), Reichel is a middle 6 winger with a slight lean toward 2nd liner (but need a little more proof of that at the NHL level), and Jones is a #2/3 D. My hope is that this season we get looks at the half dozen LHD and Regula at the NHL level for chunks of games so we can hopefully sort through the suspects and prospects and come out of the season with a couple lightly pencilled into 2 or 3 slots going forward....ideally a couple that look like middle pairing guys. Hopefully we have a better year of health for our prospects at the junior/college level and we see some growth in Korchinski, Nazar, Rinzel, Greene, Hayes, Lundwinski, Dach that builds even more optomism.this team doesn't really have any established young high end assets outside of Reichel and Bedard, until proven otherwise the rebuild is nowhere close to over until that number is in the double digits and we can fill out the rest of the roster via smart outside acquisitions, we need to see production at the NHL level before we can even begin to pencil in any of these kids long term, all it takes is a short glance at prior organizational prospect rankingson this board to see how many will amount to replacement level players, on average
Ooh, that's a good one.Alexander Holtz. No idea if this guy is a bust or not, but New Jersey doesn't need him, he fits the age range, and he shouldn't be too expensive. Maybe trade one of our promising Rockford defensive defensemen and a 2nd round pick or two.
Seems pretty smart and methodical in his plans...Danny hit a home run with the hire looking back, the fact that he's not letting any pressure come his way to improve this team now with Bedard coming in says a lot, props to Danny for understanding it will take a bit to get this team right as well and staying out of the wayIdeally we're picking top 10 this time next year. Trade targets should be cap dumps giving us more picks as well as seeing if we can turn our quantity of picks into more quality picks.
I liked that KD interview a lot. He seems like he has a lot of common sense.
this deal actually makes a lot of sense given the one year of term left and helping them get to cap floorTor receives:
Ottawa's 2nd round pick
Chi receives:
Boston 1st round pick
Matt Murray
Just lake last year just a different goalie.
Holtz in his draft year was a low IQ one dimensional sniper.Alexander Holtz. No idea if this guy is a bust or not, but New Jersey doesn't need him, he fits the age range, and he shouldn't be too expensive. Maybe trade one of our promising Rockford defensive defensemen and a 2nd round pick or two.

I haven't kept up with him since he was drafted, but if he's still about the same I don't see him as a fit with this team.
Correct. Murray is 5 million in cap just wasted for Toronto as they will go with Woll and most likely sign Samsonov for next year. Tor is also desperate for cap space. Also, this first round is deep so Chicago could find a really good player and Tor can afford a depth player or two that would probably be leaving for free agency.this deal actually makes a lot of sense given the one year of term left and helping them get to cap floor
Holtz is pretty much the antithesis of what Davidson looks for. Skating and compete are just not there. That’s not to say he can’t be a good player in this league but I highly doubt this front office would be throwing picks away for guys who don’t fit their moldAlexander Holtz. And another potential chip to pair with a 2nd round pick to move up, Dubas and Davidson have worked together a decent amount the past two seasons on deals, maybe they strike one again if Dubas isn't firedCorrect. Win Win
Another player to look into for Chi as well would be Jake Muzzin who eats up 5.6 mill in Cap.
DUMB to start trading our draft picks for other teams duds… Other teams wouldn’t wanna trade em if they were producing… We need to stay the course and REBUILD OUR farm team so we have some new GOOD YOUNG guns to come up and play…. Gather all these draft choices & THEN TRADE EM cause “you can’t wait 1-2 years”….Dumb.
Cubs shit.

You take on bad contracts to acquire higher/more draft picks. This is basically what every rebuilding team has been doing in the NHL for several decades.DUMB to start trading our draft picks for other teams duds… Other teams wouldn’t wanna trade em if they were producing… We need to stay the course and REBUILD OUR farm team so we have some new GOOD YOUNG guns to come up and play…. I disagree, we have a few with top pair potential. Let it play out.Our prospect pool is heavy on D. Unless it's like a blue-chip D, we have a ton of potential 2nd and 3rd pairing D-men prospects.

Boston could hit a freaking wall soon. Insane to go from best season ever to possible missing playoffs in 2 years and a farm system with no assets coming inBoston doesn't have a 1st round pick, or a 2nd, or a 2024 1st, or a 2024 2nd. Their draft outlook not looking good.
