Re: the bold, maybe he fits the system the Canes play? Canes don't allow a lot of shots, but also due to the aggressiveness of the defensemen, often leave some high quality chances. The team skates well and all of our D are pretty decent puck handlers/passers though so many times there is a defenseman nearby to swat away any rebound. So essentially, make the first save and allow the D/Forwards to clear it? Just speculating.
