Ok,I was just watching the latest Mecum auction... they showed Carroll Shelby's personal '65 427 Cobra sell for $5.4m!

Such a beautiful car too... one of only 5 ever in charcoal grey.

That's just absurd. Congrats to the seller for getting paid, and congrats to the buyer for having that sort of f*** you money.

But now that car is gonna sit alone in a mansion. Nobody will be able to even look at it, never mind get near it, never mind touch it or even dream of sitting in it or driving it.

I like the Mecum show, but I much prefer seeing the cars that sell for LESS than I expect. So many times I'll see a nice 40, 50 year old car roll off and say to myself "Damn, I would've gladly paid 20 grand for that one."

It does get aired on NBC on the weekend, so I doubt it completely goes away.
