If all of our prospects that have potential develop how we predict them to as well as our young players playing on the Canucks now (i.e. Kassian, Vey, Corrado, Lack(even though he's not THAT young)) what would our lineup be? Just a thread I thought might spark some interest.

Virtanen-Horvat-Kassian
Shink-Gaunce-Jensen
Cassels-McCann-Fox
Petit-Vey-Blomstrand
Archibald

Corrado-Tanev
Hutton-Tryamkin
Subban-Cederholm
McCeneny

Demko-Lack

No Tanev? Hutton?

Really shows how weak our prospect depth is on the backend anyways. I only see a couple legitimate D prospects as of right now.

I would out it as

Corrado-Tanev
Hutton-McEneny
Tryamkin-Subban

Interesting that you put Petit over some of our prospects that are much more likely to make the NHL like Archibald.

Oh wow, mind fart.....lol. But regarding Archibald I thought that Petit would be a better fit because if we needed someone to kick in the intimidation factor we have someone already. You should know who I'm talking about.

But I'll edit those two in, I completely forgot

I'd swap Vey and Gaunce

Virtanen-Horvat-Kassian
Shinkaruk-Vey-Jensen
Gaunce-McCan-Fox
Zalewski-Cassels-Grenier

Hutton-Tanev
Tryamkin-Corrado
Tommernes-Subban
McEney

Demko
???

It's still weird you'd include Petit over a large number of prospects we have that have much better and more likely NHL upside than him including Zawelski, Kenins, Grenier and Lain.

Vey as a 4th liner?
Gaunce higher up than McCann?
Petit and Blomstrand? Matthias is young enough to be in these conversations.

These threads are always quite silly............. but fun, I'll admit.

Virtanen - Horvat - Kassian
Shinkaruk - McCann - Jensen
Matthias - Cassels - Gaunce
Dorsett - Fox - Kennins
Archibald

Hutton - Tanev
Sbisa - Corrado
Tryamkin - McEneny

Lack
Demko

Subban's not going to do squat, IMO.

Virtanen - McCann - Kassian
Guance - Cassels - Fox
Matthias - Vey - Dorsett

Edler - Tanev
Sbisa - Corrado
Hutton - Subban

Lack
Demko

----------------------------------

Now this is what we lack:

Shinkaruk - ??? - Jensen
Virtanen - Horvat - Kassian
Guance - McCann - Fox
Matthias - Cassels - Dorsett

McCann is definitely going to be a top 6 forward but he will be in the 3C kind of how like Pavelski was in SJ when they started getting stacked. Hopefully this years draft can get us a 1C, if not then we need to acquire one when the Sedins are done.

Some players in mind are:

Marner
Strome
White
Barzel

Wry n Ginger

I made the list keeping in mind that we don't have players that have potential to fill some of the roles we need. I will leave a *** where I don't think we have a player to fill that role. Might be a little off topic but I liked what a few other posters did above.

Shinkaruk - *** - Kassian (not sold on Kassian as a first line winger but such is life.)

Virtanen - Horvat/McCann - Jensen/Fox (I think Virtanen has first line potential, can he play RW?)

*** - Gaunce - /Jensen/Fox (McCann moves to 3rd line wing?)

Matthias - Cassels - Archibald (Cassels could be a 3rd liner easily)

There are a lot of movable parts on our forward group. Several players have realistic potential to play the same role which means we could end up with some assets to move for some depth on D, which we desperately need. Horvat, Gaunce, McCann and Cassels are battling for 2 center spots....

Edler - *** (Edler barely makes on here as first D potential...needs to prove himself a lot this year)
Sbisa - Tanev (Our D prospects are depressing....I am comfortable with Tanev here but the rest is hopeful at best.)
Tryamkin - Corrado (Tryamkin could rocket up this list or bust...Corrado could be 2nd paring.)

Yes Virtanen can play RW from some of his goals I saw. So

Shinkaruk - Marner - Virtanen
McCann - Horvat - Kassian
Guance - Bonino - Jensen
Matthias - Cassels - Dorsett

I think Guance looks good on the wing, actually that is where he got his goals in the pre-season. Pretty much We are missing a 1C and Benning will probably make a tweak here and there. I think we can acquire a 1C in this draft.

You have, Marner, Strome, White and maybe Barzal?

I see Benning going for a Boston/LA kind of model. Go into the playoffs big and with skill.

Skill will be: Shinkaruk, Jensen, Bonino, McCann, Horvat(Some size)

Size: Virtanen, Kassian, Guance, Matthias, Cassels, Dorsett(Had a good run), Marner if he keeps getting big.

Defence:

Edler(Size) - Tanev
Sbisa(Size) - Tryamkin(Size)
Stanton(Size) - Hutton(Size)

Sure, let's play the fantasy game, 3 years from now:

We've done some prospect swapping. Gaunce/Fox go to Detroit and Jensen ends up in Pittsburgh, and we get Jurco (+pick) and Dumoulin in return, who both are homeruns for us. We go hard after Schultz during one of the offseasons and eventually get him. Danny settles down as a mentor-type playmaker for our 2015 top pick Rantanen, who is bound to take over Henrik once he runs out of steam. Shinkaruk and Virtanen are already ready for that. The brothers promise to stay on the team till retirement and promised third line time for the last few years, a decided gamble from our GM. Burrows and Bieksa are the other two veterans who take on discount deals to eventually retire as Canucks. Burrows' game translates well to the fourth line and Bieksa is getting ready to transition into a coaching position, showing the ropes to Tryamkin and Stewart already.

Kassian never reaches his potential and is traded elsewhere as someone else is willing to take a chance on him. With the return from that trade and other assets we move up in 2016 and snag Jesse Puljujärvi. Finnish user turkulad won't stop about a chance of icing a line called The Finnish Connection (Virtanen-Rantanen-Puljujärvi), and is pleased to see Salo has been brought in on the team as an assistant GM.

As Bonino and Horvat end up having great chemistry and playing like 2nd line players on our third, the 2014 offseason ends up becoming our best ever with only Pettit and Forsling busting and McCann dominating in Utica. Friesen and Cassels have become fan favorites on the bottom lines and we're hoping Henrik's time is up before we lose them so we could run a Rantanen-Bonino-Cassels-Friesen center depth for a while, until McCann pushes somebody out. Fans on HFB are trying to get their hands on Lucic to no avail but there's some legit potential to sign Lucic despite the antagonism of Boston/Vancouver that has been going on for years.

Edler has been the scapegoat for the last 5 years but he still works fairly well with Schultz and we continue the tradition of having a lot of #2 guys but not a true #1 D. We're dead set on getting one with one of our newest draft picks, as we've gone a bit offboard to select some really intriguing bust-boom types. Although with Tryamkin, Dumoulin and Corrado we are doing quite fine.

Demko absolutely dominates all the levels he's played at, which sets us up with another goalie controversy, and everything's right in the universe. In the end, we do end up losing Lack for some futures and are the laughing stock of the league, but with Demko taking the Calder trophy and getting 4th most Vezina votes at the same time.. who cares. Cannata is a good sport and ends up becoming that stable, non-controversial backup goalie we know ain't gonna challenge for a #1 spot but is more than happy to cover for whoever is the latest man of the year on net. Hopefully that guy is Demko for a long while.

Yeah. These threads are pretty goofy and a good way to look like an idiot in the not too distant future...but i'm not going to pretend it's not at least a little bit fun to speculate. :D

I'll go with something like:

Virtanen-???-Kassian
Shinkaruk-Horvat-Jensen
McCann-Gaunce-???

???-Tanev
Hutton-Corrado
???-???

Lack
Demko

Dear lord that blueline is ugly if we look at it through rose coloured glasses.

And those ??? are critical prospects we're going to have to find...somewhere in the future and don't look to have in our system right now.

I do think these guys will make the team, at least:

Virtanen - Bonino - Kassian
Sedin - Sedin - McCann
Horvat - Gaunce - Matthias
Dorsett - XX - Hansen

Hamhuis - Tanev
Stanton - Corrado
Hutton - XX

Lack
XX

There is no way to predict the progression of young players.

Pavelski #205 79pts, Benn #129 79pts..
This is a ridiculous counterpoint.

Thankfully there is such things as veterans and UFAs, because if we want our prospects to fill out a line-up, we have to hope:

- One of Virtanen or Shinkaruk become first line players.
- Kassian becomes a first line player.
- Either we draft a 1C this year, or we luck out and one of Horvat or McCann becomes a 1C
- One of Vey, Jensen, or Matthias becomes a top 6 player...
- Two of Fox, Gaunce, and Cassels can fill out our bottom 6 centers...
- One of Archibald/Kenins/Lain finds their way as a solid NHLer.

All of our D prospects exceed expectations.

One of our goalies becomes a starter level talent...

^ it's quite possible that Gaunce turns out better than McCann.

I have my doubts about that. Im not sure I am convinced Gaunce will be more than a fringe bottom 6 NHL'er at any point in his career.

Not saying McCann is going to be a world beater... im just not huge on Gaunce.
