Here’s my spreadsheet for upcoming UFAs, each team’s cap situation, and a trade tracker. I update the spreadsheet daily. I use CapFriendly to create this list and AFP Analytics for the contract projections.

Edit: Spreadsheet has been updated with AFP's latest projections and I added a new section for RFAs.

Since we're so close w Calgary and they look to be entering their rebuild I wonder what it would take to get Sharngovich from them.

6'2. Shooter. 25 years old. 3.1M dollar cap hit.

Might have to dangle Lekk or Hog for him. I suppose it depends on who you seeing having more success with EP long term.

Lekk - EP - Sharangovich
Hog - EP - Sharangovich

Lekk/Hog and Mik for Sharangovich

Have you considered how well he'd fit in our system given his (lack of) defensive game and 5v5 play? Tocchet would hate him IMO. He kind of hates Hoglander (who is a better player than Sharngovich) and he was pretty solid at evens this year.

Is Mikheyev’s contract buyout friendly or are we best off dealing him? Capfriendly is glitching for me

24-25: 1.15m
25-26: 2.15m
26-27: 1.55m
27-28: 1.55m

The main problem is this coincides with the OEL buyout and bumps that dead money up to over 6m and 4m for the next several years.

OEL Buyout:

24-25: 2.35m
25-26: 4.77m
26-27: 4.77m
27-28: 2.13m
28-29: 2.13m

Total:

24-25: 3.5m
25-26: 6.92m
26-27: 6.32m
27-28: 3.68m
28-29: 2.13m

it's not very good. saves 3.6m next year and 2.6m the following but costs 1.55m the following two years

it's palatable if you can do something really good with the space in the next two years but otherwise they should be trying to trade him imo

Yeah, it's fine on it's own but coupled with the OEL buyout that's a lot of dead money.

Can't really look at it that way. It allows us to keep a player like Blueger instead of him. The fact that he's scratched instead of Aman shows where his value is at. The last two years of the buyout shouldn't be that big of a deal as the OEL buyout cap hit drops and the cap is expected to escalate quickly now that the players' covid debt is paid off.

I'm not advocating for keeping him, I think having 6-7 in dead money for the next two seasons for a small upgrade in one year isn't good asset allocation. Would rather pay the draft pick or prospect cost to get rid of the contract.

Kaliyev is a guy I've always liked and if I was running, like, Seattle or some bubbleish team that needed goals I'd have a lot of interest but I'm not sure how well he'd fit in Tocchet's system on a contending team. To me he's a guy who is going to break out when he gets big minutes on a bad team.

But if he's cheap there are certainly worse options for a Pettersson linemate for next year.

If I just go by AFP's current contract projects, plug in who the Canucks are rumoured to be interested in, swap Hronek for Ehlers, buyout Mikheyev, and sign Silovs to the same contract Podkolzin got you end up with this:

Joshua - 3y/3m
Tanev - 3y/4.68m
Zadorov - 4y/5.1m
Dillon - 2y/3.91m

Suter-Miller-Boeser
Hoglander-Pettersson-Ehlers
Joshua-XXX-Garland
Bains-Aman-Podkolzin
Di Giuseppe

Hughes-Tanev
Soucy-Zadorov
Dillon-Juulsen
Wolanin/Brisebois

Demko
Silovs

That leaves with 4.77m in space for a 3rd line centre. Could just sign Blueger (2y/2.56) and use the rest to upgrade on Juulsen (Myers, Chatfield or Desharnais) or grab anther bottom-6 option.

I am also generally leaning towards the trade Hronek for assets if he wants over $6 million (not saying that's your exact number/opinion).

But the way I look at it, they need to re-sign Zadorov and Joshua, and they also need to bring in a bona fide top six winger to play with Pettersson. And in order to do that it will be very difficult to keep Hronek. To put it another way, I think the increase in Pettersson's performance by adding a top six winger will be larger than the decrease in Hughes' performance by replacing Hronek with someone like Tanev. Plus, we'd get assets for Hronek, and if you end up signing a guy like Reinhart or Guentzel instead of a trade target like Ehlers, you can use those assets to both move Mikheyev but to also target cheapish depth on the backend.

Would rather not on Ehlers, get a younger forward and resign Lindholm. Would free us additional cap space (likely) for an improved D group.

I still maintain that I don't think it will cost that much of a sweetener to dump Mikheyev, especially with the cap finally rising. A buyout is a really bad option, given the OEL buyout hit will be jumping up.

Ship him to Chicago or SJ. They need guys to fill roster spots. Tell him he waives his NTC or he's just not going to be playing.

Hard to argue one way or another without knowing what the asset cost would be.

It's tough to gauge but I don't see any reason why the cost would be negligible. This is a player who scored 11 goals this season and makes almost 5M for two more years. I have seen no evidence or actual argument that somehow the cost will magically drop while there are plenty of historical precedents and the reported rumour that they were unable to move him at the TDL that indicates that the cost will be the same as it would for any other 5M cap dump that has two years remaining.

I'd rather give up our 1st than buyout Mikheyev. Going two years with 7M in deadcap basically guarantees we have to choice between sacrificing our depth or letting Boeser walk.

Fortunately, I don't think it'll cost a 1st to move Mikheyev.

it's also fortunate because the canucks don't have a 1st in the upcoming draft

Maybe even Ott, they were looking for "pro's"

I would've bought this argument like 2 or 3 months ago, not anymore.

If we are trading hronek I'd target buchnevik or Crouse as the main forward coming back. Or maybe Keller if they'd be open to moving him. Sign tanev and another puck moving dman (Carolina guys maybe?)

who knows. The nhl trade market is inefficient AF. IMO, the appeal of taking on Mikheyev is the value you get: when you take on the contract (the sweetener), the on ice contribution when/if he bounces back, and then again if/when he's dealt at the TDL. None of what happens down the stretch affects this IMO.....any acquiring GM knows that he's just gassed/slower/weaker from missing an entire offseason due to major reconstructive surgery. He should have spent the bulk of the season on LTIR.

Konecny would be a decent target too...and the Flyers need a RHD....and Tocchet freaking loves him.
