Earlier this week, Stevens asked to be released from his NHL contract with Detroit. He now rejoins his former team.
Utica Comets General Manager, Dan MacKinnon, announced today that the team has signed forward, Nolan Stevens, to a standard player contract for the remainder of the 2023-24 season. This signing marks a return for Stevens to the Comets, the same team he played for during last year’s season.

Stevens, 27, continues his sixth season of professional hockey after starting the 2023-24 season with the Grand Rapids Griffins. The Brantford, Ontario native played 31 games for the Griffins scoring three goals and eight assists for 11 points. Last season with the Comets, Stevens ranked seventh amongst Comets scoring 15 goals and 18 assists for 33 points in 48 games played.

Phil Kessel seen skating with Abbotsford today. I don't see anything on Abby nor Van Canucks social media regarding a PTO, and nothing on AHL transactions.

I wonder what's in Utica that makes this kid want out of an NHL contract.

If it's another person then this move must be quite the Valentine's day gift and very cool.

The New Jersey Devils announced today that the team signed goaltender Isaac Poulter to a two-year, entry level contact with an annual average value of $812,500. The contract starts with this 2023-24 season and includes 2024-25. Poulter will remain in Utica (AHL).

Poulter, 22, joined the organization on June 22, 2022, signing a two-way AHL deal, and split time in 2022-23 between New Jersey’s ECHL affiliate in Adirondack and with Utica in the AHL. He signed a one-year, two-way AHL contract for the 2023-24 season on April 25, 2023. This season, the 6’2”, 175lbs. netminder has a 14-5-1-3 record in Utica, with a 2.54 goals-against average (GAA) and .913 save percentage. Poulter is one of nine AHL goaltenders who has earned three, or more, shutouts this season.

Dennis Cesana is staying in the organization after signing a one-year AHL contract for next season.

The 25-year-old is currently in his second full pro season and has one assist in 14 games. As a rookie last season, Cesana ranked sixth among Charlotte defensemen in scoring with 12 points (1g, 11a) in 49 games.

After a career high in 2022-2023 (27 points in 66 games). O'Leary was limited to 3 assists in 40 games this season. He will join the team of Ilves in Finland.

To fill O'Leary's spot, the Wild has added a familiar face :

Hain, 23 (4/3/00), has skated in 21 games with the Iowa Wild and totaled three points (2-1=3). He has also scored two goals with the Iowa Heartlanders this season.
