Playoff progress post updated through Friday's games. A couple of surprises ...
• Fort Wayne took a 3-0 lead into the 1st intermission @ Cincinnati. But the Cyclones scored 3 of their own in the 3rd, then CIN centerman Louie Caporusso netted the game winner in OT to give his team a 1-0 series lead.
• Utah took another 2-0 lead over League champions Idaho, and won Game 2 on a ENG by forward Dylan Fitze to pad the Grizzlies' unexpected series lead.

Final scores post updated for Saturday action. #4 Florida shut out #1 SoCar in North Charleston. Otherwise, the higher seed teams in the Division semis took care of business.

Game Center summaries continue to be linked in this tracking post. (I haven't fallen asleep on a watch ... yet ... :boredom:).

Three Division semifinals games were played on Monday night, two of them requiring overtime. The Mariners on home ice notched their first series win with a 4-3 OT decision over the Royals. In North Charleston, the Stingrays shutout the Blades 4-0 to tie their series. And a third one-goal game in KC between the Mavs & Americans ended in a 1-0 extra time Allen victory.

Five more games scheduled for Tuesday night. Looks like Newfoundland & Ft. Wayne each ran outta tickets for tonight - S/T for their fanbases - but that's what FloHockey.tv is for.

Asleep at the mouse again ... but I've updated the ECHL first round playoffs progress post. While I was dozing ...
• Newfoundland shuffled their home schedule (without consulting me), and took a 3-1 series lead over ADK.
• The Mariners climbed back into contention in their series with the Royals.
• Both South Division series are 2-1, with J'ville & Florida each leading.
• The Komets used home cooking to shut out Cincinnati, who still lead that series 2-1.
Toledo completed their sweep of the Fuel on Thursday night, so the Walleye will be resting while their next Central Division opponent plays on.
• League champs Idaho needed OT in Utah to earn their first series victory.
• The Mavericks & Americans have been idle since Monday night, waiting for the Allen ice to freeze (I reckon).

In Friday night Division Semis action, the Cyclones established a 3-1 series lead in Ft. Wayne while regular season champs Idaho took Utah to another overtime to tie their series 2-2. Summaries for those games & three others are linked in the progress post somewhere in this thread.

Actually they had one of their smallest crowds of the year at about 5000

Weekend updates (without Chevy Chase) for the ECHL Division Semifinals are captured in this post. In short ...
• #1 Newfoundland & #2 Reading move on to the North Division Finals
• The South Division pairs continue to duke it out
• #4 Fort Wayne staved off elimination vs. Cincinnati in their Central Division semi-series
• Regular season champs Idaho have turned the wrong way bus around against #4 Utah, while the other Mountain Division pair are still trading blows

Idaho, Allen & Florida all advance with 4-2 series wins in their Division Semifinals. That leaves Jacksonville vs. Greenville & Cincinnati vs. Ft. Wayne still to be decided, either on Tuesday night or Wednesday night (depending on how generous the host teams are feeling).

Cincinnati eliminated Ft. Wayne on Wednesday night, winning Game 7 by a final score of 1-0. The lone goal was scored by Cyclones forward Justin Vaive on a 2nd period power play. CIN goaltender Beck Warm earned the series-winning shutout.

That wraps Round 1 of the 2023 Kelly Cup playoffs. Next up: Division Finals.

Thanks for updating the thread.

I'm going to the Steelheads game in Boise next Friday. My first ECHL playoff game (been to a couple regular season games). Boise fans are really fun, and pack them in!

I sure hope you mean Friday next (May 12), or you're gonna need a plane ticket to Texas.

Idaho lost the first two games at home to Utah in Round 1, so they may be better served to start on the road this round. Have a safe & enjoyable game night. :cheer:

Thanks. yeah, that was a weird series against Utah!

Btw, love the avatar. Is that the old 'Admiral' in that shot of the riverfront? (I'm from St. Louis).

I'm guessing it's a post-S.S. Admiral era image, probably from the early 2000s when the vessel had been repurposed as the President Casino. I was never aboard in any of its incarnations (dismantled for scrap over 10 years ago), but my now-wife went to a couple of dances on the Admiral in her late teens & early 20s. I just liked the Mississippi riverfront photo.
