TBH, that's an inherently cheesy concept.
The Canes have enough of a brand identity at this point that you don't need to slap a hockey stick on the primary logo for people to know it's a hockey team. The primary element has to be a hurricane or a hurricane related thing, not a generic piece of hockey equipment.
With the current logos the primary focuses are a hurricane and a pair of hurricane flags. Flown off of the hockey stick since they need a pole regardless, but the focus is very clearly the hurricane flags. Because they're not the Carolina Hockey Sticks.
If you want to change the logo, you need a logo that represents either a hurricane or something hurricane related better than our current set. Nothing I've seen gets there. Some have come close, and might have been better on day 1, but aren't anywhere close to good enough to override 25 years or so of brand identity.
I'm not talking about using the H, I'm talking about your idea to make the H out of hockey sticks. You missed the main point of my post, which was IF they want to go with a letter (I hope they would do better), an H might be preferable to a C given there are already two teams that wear a C as their primary logo (I know Montreal's also has an H on it, but the C is much more prominent).
I'm all for more unique color schemes, but mauve and copper just ain't it.Major missed opportunity for the Canes to look like a 2nd rate NFL Europe team
That's not a rejected 3rd jersey, that's one of the initial prototypes we had for the branding and jerseys of the organization before they settled on what they did.Major missed opportunity for the Canes to look like a 2nd rate NFL Europe team
that makes more sense, seems like too far of a departure from their primary branding to be considered for a 3rdThat's not a rejected 3rd jersey, that's one of the initial prototypes we had for the branding and jerseys of the organization before they settled on what they did.
I'm very much on team 'just go with the classics'. Our original jerseys were the best we've ever had. They sold like nuts when they brought them back last year. Just go to that full time. Keep the blacks as thirds, Dundon explicitly likes to have different concepts with each jersey to sell different things to people who like different things, but c'mon. Wear the jerseys that we won a cup in and most people *still* think of first when they hear the words "Carolina Hurricanes Jersey".At this time I'm ready for the double flags to be the permanent logo. It is, in my opinion, the best logo they've ever trotted out. I'd like to see the road jerseys get the double flags too.
I completely agree. If they want to do little tweaks or updates fine but they’ve never topped the original- that look or something close to it just is what they are supposed to look like, at least in my headI'm very much on team 'just go with the classics'.
