Rathbone. After that you can kind of put them in any order.

I have it as:

Rathbone
Karlsson
Silovs
Bains
Lockwood
Klimovich
Johansson
Aman
McDonough
Forsell

It’s not a good list.
It sure isn't.

After Rathbone, it'd be a win for any of those prospects if they made it as a fourth-liner or bottom pairing d-man. The only one from that group still with significant up-side is Silovs. He's got a long way to go, but it wouldn't be a shock if he became an average NHL starter (certainly a big win, but not a shock).

Klimovich. The draft cannot come soon enough , this prospect Pool is do depleted it’s crazy
Its only depleted because we have been one of the elite NHL teams over the past 8 years. Just this past season we played meaningful games in late March. One of the bigger success stories of the NHL...

Actually when you break it down, this prospect list is passable, considering the number of first and second rounders the Canucks have flushed in the last couple of seasons.

I think there's a good chance Rathbone, Karlsson, Klimovich, Lockwood and even McDonough eventually play games in the NHL. Although with the exception of Rathbone, it's hard to predict how many.

The problem is the absolute black hole in terms of upper end talent. And unfortunately a draft pick in the middle of the first round (15th overall) isn't going to move the needle very much.

Yeah not having many 1st and 2nd round picks these last two years certainly doesn’t help. It’s why I’m hoping Alvin trades for a first round pick this year and adds some more picks for this draft . This reminds me of 2013 when our farm was so bad we traded into the first round and drafted Horvat and used that draft to rebuild the farm

This draft seems very similar

His fiancee is from White Rock, according to the twitter comments.
Does it say who she is? I might know her

I ACTUALLY DO KNOW WHO SHE IS lol. Played baseball with her brother and it isnt surprising she is dating a hockey player

For a team that was bad for so long, it’s pretty atrocious that Benning and go didn’t accumulate an above average amount of picks over that period.

We should have at least a couple more contributing roster players if the retool/rebuild was done right.

We don’t need to blow it up but with Miller and any other moves hopefully we can restock those cupboards.

Wasnt really Bennings fault tho what with Gillis, empty cupboards Benning inherited, covid, weather, schedule, refs, Bettman, covid again, Abbotsford floods, Green, Linden, time, negative fans, negative media, hindsight, foresight, etc

This is really where I'm coming from. It's almost impossible to overstate how bad the Canucks were from 2015-2019.....consistently one of the bottom five teams in the league almost every year.

The fact their prospect pool is where it's at right now, is really a damning indictment of the previous regime. Of course it doesn't help when you consistently lose in the draft lottery, and actually drop back. And it's even worse when you do have a top-10 pick, you end up selecting guys like Virtanen and Juolevi. Those two picks should by now essential members of the Canucks core. And trading a boatload of picks for band-aid players is even worse.

At this point the Canucks are firmly floundering in 'never-never land'. As befits their 15th overall draft status, they're not bad enough to get anywhere near a top-five pick; but not good enough to be anything more than a playoff bubble team year after year.

I think Allvin and Rutherford (if he doesn't retire) will eventually right the ship. But a Stanley Cup? Nothing more than pipe dream.

And to add insult to injury is the fact that Benning consistently refused to acquire draft picks and wouldn’t trade aging veterans at the deadline outside of Vanek ( now yes Tyler Motte was an outstanding pickup but that trade was an exception ) . If he trades the players in expiring contacts instead of being loyal to them and try to win games I believe our prospect pool wouldn’t of been as bad as it is now and why the draft can’t come soon enough so we can get some prospects in the system to be excited about
