Thanks for your opinion Mr midnight judge. Crosby of Penguins voted most complete player in NHLPA poll for 5th consecutive season | NHL.comCrosby was putrid defensively and nowhere near the best offensive players. He has no business getting any votes in this poll, or being an option really.
In fact Sidney Crosby was on the ice for 93 non-power play goals against this season - which is among the very worst defensive seasons for a forward in the past 3 decades.

Sometimes you can be perceived to be a bit harsh but your posts pertaining to Crosby and Lemieux are (from what I’ve seen) always accurate. The posts can be and are laughed off but it just comes down to being stuff that people don’t want to hear or accept. I say this as a pens fan and I have seen you always still rank Crosby and Lemieux in their proper spots/ranges all time so I know you are pretty legit (even with caps biases) so I don’t just dismiss your stuff on here.Crosby was putrid defensively and nowhere near the best offensive players. Yeah it only means that players who actually experience how it is to play against all of them have voted him 5 years in a row for a winner in this thread's topic. Absolutely nothing. This +/- without plus is much more relevant source for a guy who plays with trash teammates. This means absolutely nothing
It’s a popularity contest. What’s so hard to understand about that? Kobe Bryant would often win player polls about who was the best player while Lebron was in his prime and he was 30+.Yeah it only means that players who actually experience how it is to play against all of them have voted him 5 years in a row for a winner in this thread's topic. This is like a +/- argument, but with only half the value.
Maybe but I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the forwards who are actually engaged and excellent in their own zones tend to do quite well by this metric (there are exceptions and the team around them Obviously is a big factor).
The eye test for me shows Sidney Crosby to be a player who is deployed overwhelmingly for offense, and rightly so. Few players in all of hockey history can replicate Crosby’s offensive upside. Hundreds of players at any given moment are just as good or better defensively.
Where it goes off the rails is when people pretend he should be getting Selke votes with 65%+ offensive zone starts, virtually no penalty killing, and below average goals against. Crosby was ahead of Bergeron and Datsyuk and couturier and kopitar on many Selke ballots over the years. This is not defensible imo.
The guy has a life-long vendetta against Crosby. He'll never be able to view him in a reasonable light. It's like trying to reason with people who think everything is a conspiracy. Thanks for your opinion Mr midnight judge.
