A big swing on an established dynamic playoff performer like Nichushkin seems like a lot better idea than nibbling around the edges for this team. Take the "player assistance" aspect out of the equation, and Nichushkin would be a perfect player for this roster. In terms of impact, he's like Guentzel - if Guentzel was 6'4", a fantastic skater, and great defensively.
Posters here would have given their eye teeth for him last week, even with his history. Now he's not worth considering for zero assets?

Seems simple enough. Dubas has to remake the Pens into a balanced team in size, grit and style of play. In the end, the idea of adding a Stephenson and third line RW who brings that and moving Smith off the books to add is the goal here. Pens with a couple smart moves can be a team/roster that does bring needed size speed and some youth to the mix. Sullivan is back but my guess is Dubas will want the sullivan smurf stuff to end.

This level of addiction is not going away soon. Someone who is willing to risk his career is not a player or person you want anything to do with. The classic bring him in and our players and organization can get him straight. Neve happens. He needs to kick this and even then, there exists a possibility of readdiction.

Nichushkin re-found his game at around 25 after a couple years as a bottom-6 guy in Colorado making peanuts. So we should be looking at 99-01 birth year players that at some point in the past showed not just promise but actual production at a high level, though maybe not the NHL yet, and for one reason or another aren't in demand currently. But we need fixable issues as well, like just not given a real opportunity or maybe an injury or two side-tracked their development.
Forsling is in the same category. A once good prospect, pulled off the scrap-heap for cheap, didn't really break out immediately but has in the last 3 years, at around 25.

I'd actually take ERod back in a heartbeat. Shit... I never really wanted him to go. The only time he ever irritated me was when the coach tried him on Crosby's RW for some reason for a little too long. He was fine when he was here and has done even better since he left. ERod and Eller as your bottom six centers for like 5-6M total would be pretty OK.
