Feel like Jake will miss tomorrow night’s game but will be good to go for the western Canada trip. He’s probably okay but they just want to truly make sure before giving him the green light.

If Jake’s getting on a plane then he doesn’t have concussion symptoms (at least as of yet lol), even If he has a diagnosed concussion . If he and Blue aren’t available, I hope they either 1) LTIR Blueger retroactive to Oct 13 if Things are status quo with him, which would allow them to call up a player; or 2) play Saturday with only 11 forwards and 6 D, which they have to do to get a player brought up for an emergency recall during the Western Canada road trip…

Guentzel will miss several months, I said it first! If the team put Jake on a plane not 100% certain if he is concussed or not, I am done with this team! Since they almost ended Sids career by their sheer incompetence, I do not trust the Pens to handle these kind of situations.

It's the robopen, I tell you. It killed Kevin Stevens and now it's back for Jake's noggin.

I hear that RoboPigeon despises the players having arms, legs and full mental health and he's here to fix that problem for them...

He stated, he has a goal he wants the Pittsburgh Penguins to play in the next special Olympics. He wants to captain the team and play in goal.

The reason Sid was out as long as he was is because he had an undiagnosed hairline fracture in his neck.

It was assumed — both by the Penguins medical team and Sid’s own independent health advisors — that all of his symptoms were attributable to his concussion. Because the concussion part of his “injury” was so obvious and blatant, it is why they missed the neck issue and he continued to have lingering symptoms, including headaches, sleep issues, etc… that made both Sid and the team wary of him returning and believing he hadn’t fully “healed” from his concussion.

As this situation lingered for such a long time and after only getting so far with the various concussion treatments he had, he finally saw a neck specialist who identified the “other” part of the equation (the neck injury) and he returned VERY quickly after that other issues treated, by way of prolotherapy injection.

That, and he also had an undiagnosed dairy allergy.

It’s a cautionary tale that when a player gets Injury X, you have to also make sure he didn’t get Injury Y that got obscured by the former.

Good summary.

But these issues remain and was what I meant:

1. When your franchise players gets a huge blindside hit to the head by Steckel and appears dazed afterwards, YOU DO NOT play him in the 3rd period of a meaningless regular season game, that is a NO GO!

2. When your franchise player 2 days later gets viciously showed head first into the boards by Victor Hedman in a 6-1 blowout, why do you not take the safe option of removing Crosby from the game which is already won?

We know concussion symptoms can appear as long as 48h after a hit. Better to play it safe than risk the long term health of your superstar! To no have him removed from these games was incompetence at the highest level.

I remember sitting nervously watching and hoping he would not get a another blow to the head with second impact syndrome as a potential risk!

I stick by my opinion that the Penguins were lucky to not end Crosbys career with their reckless handling of both these hits.

Sort of related, but I always chuckle after every surgery an athlete has the their team announces they underwent a successful procedure. I mean, I guess it's successful in the sense they didn't die on the table. But it's months before anyone actually finds out if the injury is fixed.

Whoever decided to fly Guentzel across canada for a week should be punished or fired, totally pointless and potentially dangerous as well, just a brain dead decision overall. Should have just left him in PIT until he was 100% for 5 to 7 days.

If he has no symptoms there was zero reason to leave him at him. Next step was to see if he developed any symptoms after non contact practice, he didnt. Next one is symptoms after contact in practice, where we are now. The fact that there has been so many games jammed into a small span is probably hes not yet been cleared.
