If bon plays average that would be a massive step up. When u let in 4 goals no matter how difficult u can’t let in a questionable 5th and then to add a uestiinabke 6th and make no saves at all all game is completely unacceptable. He wasn’t under a heavy barrage of shots and pressure. He literally let in every single scoring chance and then 2 additional goals on top. This game is 100 percent on him.

That loss is totally on Q. The risk reward was too high. The only way you challenge at that time of the game is for blatant missed call. That wasn’t the situation. Bob didn’t put us in a 6 on 4 deficit. Q did.

Buying him out this Summer saves 9M total.

Over the course of next ten years after this season is over. Plus, Zito will still end up with a dead weight of $5.8mil on the cap structure, couple that with some other backup tendy getting signed in the next off-season so circa $4-5mil per and you'd still end up paying roughly the same amount, maybe even more. Rather easy decision for Zito for not to buyout Bob.

Bob would need to edge towards 4.0GA/.800sv% before Zito changes his mind about Bob.

this is horrible cap management because now you have 41 million dollars of DEAD cap space through the year 2031. Thats 10 years of dead money on the cap that you cant do ANYTHING to get rid of. All you've done is tie an anchor to the franchise that it has no hope to recover from in the slight hope you get better goaltending.

It sucks, but the ONLY play at this point is to hope Bob figures it out and gives you better goaltending.

The choice is either 41M in dead cap or 50M in dead cap.
It's not a slight hope of better goaltending, it's a quasi guarantee. Keeping Bob and hoping the new sub 1M backup put up number similar to Driedger is the definition of small odds.
You already have an anchor tied up to this franchise, you can either play that anchor and lose games and playoffs chances/appearances, or not play the anchor and improve you playoff chances.

Every thread for the rest of the season will not devolve into a Bob debate. Anyone that cannot discuss each game in a vacuum, or is seen pulling every other thread off topic to suit your yearly complaints will be reading the threads and not posting in them.
