No knock on Tkachuk; there's not a single player in the league that could put the Leafs over the edge.Could have used him last night.

They had Carolina's goalie and a deeper team, and it didn't make much difference. And scoring has been their biggest hurdle for some time.Maybe a better goalie.
That's the thing about goalies though, they aren't like other players where you can normally predict what you are going to get. Generally speaking, you can have a goalie be lights out for a couple years and then very mediocre after that. It's more rare that you see a goalie be consistent throughout a long career like other players. Perhaps that's just optics though and facts don't show it (meaning it's rare to have skaters have long consistent careers as well). I think the stat is that the average career length in the NHL is 4.5yrs, but that's pulled up by the top end. For 75% of the league, the average length is 2 years. They had Carolina's goalie and a deeper team, and it didn't make much difference. And scoring has been their biggest hurdle for some time.
I don't disagree. That just makes it difficult as a gameplan one can count on. Especially when goaltending hasn't really been sinking the team overall. If you hypothetically have a goalie who's robbing games left and right when they shouldn't be, of course that would move the needle. But that's not a roster decision Toronto can bank on. They could grab the best goaltender in the league and it wouldn't be a shocker if they disappointed, because that's the way it goes with that position. That's the thing about goalies though, they aren't like other players where you can normally predict what you are going to get. Maybe it's because there are 18 skaters on a team and generally you are seeing 1 goalie consistently, so the top guys in the league having long consistent careers is what people see vs. very few goalies like that.
Could have used him last night.
Could have used him last night.
Matthews was playing sick last night
McDavid?3rd best player after MacKinnon and Kucherov this season.
The Playoff Flu. Catches it every Spring.
Vs the Kings. If the format was 1-8 like it should be McDavid never would have left the 2nd round in his career.McDavid?
Certainly showing his worth in the playoffs
Still rent free lol,If Matthews only had the great Brady Tkachuk to guide him.
Still rent free lol,
Awfully hard to make up for a forward core of guys that are regular season players.Maybe a better goalie.
Doubt it. Probably lies spread by Ovie propagandists. Is it true he has 1 goal in his last 9 playoff games?
He went scoreless in round 2 last year with just an assistIs it true he has 1 goal in his last 9 playoff games?
Owen Nolan says Boo-Hoo to you sir.Matthews was playing sick last night
