His KHL contract is terminated. So unless they loan him to another KHL team, he's staying with the Marlies.

Leafs confirmed he's joining the Marlies as soon as his visas clear this season.

The guy is one of the best players in the MHL, and plays no time on a team he'd probably be one of the best 6/9 F on that can't "afford" to play him because every win matters.They don't have a VHL team besides an affiliate that's like 2000km away, meaning it was a death sentence in the org to go there.

Very excited to see what he can do in a league that he can be challenged in. I've been calling for this or a change in org since the end of last season because we knew this was coming.

Personally, I'm going to judge this 19yo solely on his height, weight, and inability to overcome the inherent bias in the KHL against N.A. bound players

+skater, +passer, +shooter. Plays all 3 forward positions. He's one of the most talented prospects in the org that hasn't had to face competition on his level basically since his D-1. It's very exciting having this guy come over.

They wouldn't give him a legit shot at the KHL and Sibir doesn't have a VHL team. At least this way he gets to graduate to a higher level of competition.

that's the hilarious part. has the most points on his MHL team despite playing 30 games fewer than the guy behind him in points.

Like many young Russians his development was stunted due to the KHL not giving him ice time.

I worried he would fizzle away but him coming over ASAP is huge for him and hopefully us.
