I talk about jinxes as like a hockey tradition, but I don't actually believe in them. Like the hat trick jinx I'll see people scold a commentator for saying the term "hat trick" for a guy with two goals working on a third. If the commentator didn't say it I guarantee you someone else has said it somewhere on the planet and no one has mystical powers to affect the outcome of a sporting event with words (unless they're in the locker room).

That said, the cover in the OP is a hilarious meme and could have contributed to an unearned overconfidence in the Toronto lineup.
