Recap of the games on December 6th, 8th, 9th and 10th:
Klagenfurt finally seem to have reached the shape their coach wanted them to be in. They shut out Salzburg (2-0) and Bolzano (3-0) and are now on par with leader Salzburg point-wise. Overall they have only conceded 2 goals in their last 6 games for a GD of 16-2.
Znojmo had a great road trip with wins against Villach (3-0), Dornbirn (4-2) and Innsbruck (4-2). When you look at their not exactly overwhelming roster, a lot of credit has to go to their coach Miroslav Fryčer. The team is still right in the mix for a playoff spot.
Vienna also had a good weekend with 6 points (3-1 vs Innsbruck and 4-1 vs Villach).
Salzburg lost 0-2 against Klagenfurt but beat Linz 4-1. They're still in the lead but they're heavily depending on their first line with Thomas Raffl and John Hughes. The other lines (including rather big names like Chad Kolarik and Bud Holloway) provide very little scoring, which has to be considered a major disappointment. It's high time for coach Matt McIlvane to re-arrange the second and third line.
Fehervar earned 4 points in two games with a win 4-1 against their direct competitor Graz and a 2-3 SO against Bolzano. Graz on their part beat Bolzano 4-1 but then lost against Fehervar.
Linz beat Dornbirn 5-4 but were put in their place by Salzburg (1-4). They were without their #1 goaltender David Kickert though who has the second best SV% out of all starters in the league, just behind Salzburg's Jean-Philippe Lamoureux.
Bolzano are struggling a bit as they lost against Graz (1-4) and Klagenfurt (0-3). Then they needed the shootout to defeat Fehervar (3-2 SO). They lost a step on Vienna and Linz.
Bad results for Villach with losses against Znojmo and Vienna, which put them 6 points behind a secure playoff spot. Bottom dwellers Innsbruck (1-3 vs Vienna and 2-4 vs Znojmo) and Dornbirn (4-5 vs Linz and 2-4 vs Znojmo) didn't gain anything either.
