We have a massive - massive problem brewing if this guy is the floating turd he looks like all of camp.

In one of the season previews - Schneider was listed as a step back guy .

Oh no...the axes are out for another young player. Imo he has been paired with our worst dmen since he got here and he needs to have an anchor to help him out not to sink him, he hasn't been great at all but he needs a vet dman on his pairingthat can mentor him and bail him out when things get squirrelly, since he got here he's had the worst of the worst d partners. Hopefully Gustafson can settle into that role, but he's not exactly the style of player I'd prefer to be paired with him.

He's been significantly better this year. Not getting caved in and way more involved and noticeable both offensively and defensively. Positive shot differential after years of being very in the red.

Gustaffsson probably helps but you can tell individually he's transfmored into a much better player.

Who would have thought a young dman who barely misses a game and never complains can continue to develop. We need this kind of player not less of them. They don't grow on trees.

He’s been skating a lot less aimlessly and has improved his reads a lot. Being more in control and keeping it simpler is highlighting how strong of a skater he is, and I’d bet we see some more offense develop in his game in the next few years. Super likable kid too

D and O are two different mentalities.

Forwards create chaos, adjust, and look to get open for support or scoring ops. There is less trust involved.

Trust goes a long way with a Defensive pair. Gus has proven to be a worthwhile partner for Scheids. Maybe not all world, but skilled enough to play an honest, consistent game in their own zone. When you trust your Defensive partner it opens up your game to play more assertively, when you don't have trust, you play on your heels and in a state of uncertainty.

It's not that Schneids is or was a borderline NHL'er as other posters said. He just is able to show his unique skills in more plays, more often, as he has a good partner finally that enables him to do so.

Just my .02

He was the best defensemen on Monday night by a lot. It seems to me that the few instances that he gets moved up to the 2nd pair, he plays really well. Thought he looked great with Miller.

Came into camp noticeably bigger and his game has taken a jump being paired with an NHL caliber defenseman. Still want him to be more physical in front of the net and he has had some growing pains along the way, but its saying something that he hasnt left the lineup since his call up in 2022. Core player once he gets more minutes (aka when Trouba is gone)

His net-front play is probably where his defensive analytics still have room to improve. His rush defense and exits (which is the best kind of defense) have improved a lot.
