Malinski is a better player.
There were games in the regular season where Walker looked fantastic, like he was absolutely built for the Avs system. I'm not sure what happened to that player but players take time to adapt to Bednar's system and I would suspect that's doubly true for defenders. That being said, he's not worth near what he's looking for if 5M is the real number.
