Wow. That preview clip from TSN is cringy. It's almost like the only games they have seen from the Jets all season were the shit-shows the Jets put on against the Leafs just after the New Year.
While the Avalanche clearly have the best two skaters in MacKinnon and Makar, the Jets defensive systems seem like they are tailor-made to counter the way the Avs like to produce offense. No one in the world is going to cover either of those guys one-on-one game after game, but the zonish/team approach the Jets are using really well this year these guys have been pretty much neutralized.
The Jets second line looks like they can hold their own and even dominate the Avs second line head to head and the Jets bottom two lines are arguably the best in the league.
From the way the Avs play it really looks like they need to pounce early, get the first goal, and then transition into the counter-attack game that the Jets beat them with yesterday.
On a side note it doesn't look like this series will be anywhere near as physical as the likely Dallas/Vegas series and whoever wins this series should be much less banged up come the 2nd round.
I don't think this series will be anywhere near as lopsided as the season series was, but I really like this matchup for the Jets.
