Duclair in 7 games has more than half as many points as Jeannot in his entire Lightning career. Sorry, not sorry, for bringing up Jeannot around here.
Trading Jeannot at the draft for a 5th and 7th to dump cap to re-sign guys (Duclair and/or Stamkos) seems like the move.
He just got his first point in 2024 (a secondary assist), perhaps he's heating up.

Extended him for two years in the offseason at league minimum. It would lower his his cap hit a lot and he would be a useful 4th liner. 2.75million,1million, and 1million . It would bring his cap hit to 1.578million which is all he has deserves at this point.

What about Kuch, Point, Gourde, Palat, etc?

Who’s done well since? Ross Colton?

Has Sergachev developed since he’s been here or is he still making the same dumbass mistakes he’s made since a rookie? Has cirelli added anything to his game? Don’t we have D coming up from Syracuse who look good for their first season and regress horribly?

Joseph leaves new career high looks better than he ever did here , Verhaege 40 goal scorer elite 1W, Miller 100+ player, Marchessault Conn Smythe 30+ goals. All didn’t have a place in Coopers “system”

Jeannot scores 20 in his sophomore season we give up the farm for him and Cooper plays him 10mins a game on the 4th line?

Well, I mean, as for Joseph's career year... there's also Nick Paul having a career year...

Bunch of shitters.
2nd round pick that played 4th line time
1st round pick that had one good year with Kuch and then traded
Undrafted FA that was hot to start the season and landed us Ben Bishop and did f*** all with Ottawa and Buffalo then came back for a few years and was always decent in the limited time he played here
1st round pick that battled injuries and was a depth dman at best
6th round pick that played great with hedman and then was out of shape for training camp
6th round pick that was a career AHL guy and then had some success in Colorado and Montreal
College free agent that had 2 semi decent years for a 4th liner and then disappeared

It's not Cooper's fault JBB paid Cirelli like a 2C when he's a 3C. His offensive development hasn't been stunted from lack of playing time of from linemates, he's just not a 2C. If anything Cooper has err'd by playing him on the 2nd line for far too long.

Sergachev took a big step forward when Cooper gave in PP1 time last year, at least offensively. It seems to simply be his personality or decision making to not make the safe plays and continually gets himself into trouble when he has the puck in our end. He definitely regressed this year. We've seen other players struggle the first year of a big new contract, it even happened with Marty. Serge can bounce back, but it seems like the bonehead plays are always going to be part of his game.

Joseph looked very promising his rookie year, then he took steps backward after that. And he's not having that great a season in Ottawa, 11 goals, 24 assists in 60 games? Joseph scored 3 goals in 56 games in his first full sesason in Ottawa - that was a step back after he left Cooper. Paul looked good as soon as he joined the team, had a career high in goals last year and another career high this year.

You're leaving a ton of the picture out with Verhaege and Marchessault, like us having a stacked top six and something called a salary cap. Cooper does prefer vets over rookies, but he's only the coach, not also the GM.

Jeannot is on the fourth because he's has had minimal offensive impact since he got here. He had a big step back already in his 2nd season in Nashville - 5 goals in 56 games - before JBB, not Cooper, gave up the farm for him. He's simply continued on that pace since he got here, that's why he's on the fourth.

Cooper started Point out of position on wing on the third line and Point played his way to 2C, then 1C. If Jeannot improves offensively, he'll move up. We've recently seen Paul at 2C because he's been playing better than offensively than Cirelli was, and suddenly Cirelli scores a game winner. Maybe that's actually good coaching.

lol Joseph has 33 ES points in 60 games, more than either Stamkos or Paul in 11 less games. That's embarrassing, that's not even factoring both of them being absolutely abysmal defensively this year so it's not like either are focusing on anything else but offense.
