15 goals scored in 4 games. 6 and 7 goals against weaker teams, while none from open play against strong teams (who also could not score on us). Almost starting to look like an effective strategy against weaker and against stronger teams..
As far as I can tell.. the 'trend' against 'weaker' nations is too tire them the f*** out. We push and push for 2 periods and they collapse in the third. That is a good strategy and a testement to 4 relatively even lines. That is good! We are also going to be very battle tested as every third period is close no matter who we play. That is also good.

We are truly a Finnish team this tournament. Which is funny because we fired the Finnish coach to get a Czech coach to do exactly what the Finnish coach was doing.

Blumel is available! Smejkal is available. Kulich is available. I'm not saying this makes us Gold Favorites, but we have some good soldiers available right now!

Just saying it should be considered. If Pasta/Necas an play against Canada then fine I get waiting but bringing them in straight for a quarter may not be the best idea.

Pasta is always the best idea imo, its hard yeah. You have Pasta, Zacha, Necas who are obviously (at least right now) better then Blumel, Kulich ... but you have to wait for them, meanwhile Blumel and Kulich, two amazing forwards are already available ...

Me personally I would maybe wait for friday games, if both Canes and Boston gets eliminated I would call Necas, Pasta, Zacha .. if one of them then I would call either Necas, Kulich and wait for Pasta or Zacha, Pasta, Kulich ... if none of them then I would call Kulich, Blumel and wait only for Pasta

But thats only me lol, I have no responsibility in this so I can make bold statements like that :D ... must be really hard for the coaches, but I would definitelly wait till friday, how the series turns out

We are in a good spot tbh. Sui/Fin/Can still all have to play each other. We obviously have Canada but a lot could be determined by then. Our next 2 games should be 3 point wins but, well, you know how it goes for us.

Our scoring is spread out an even. 19 guys have played, 18 have points. Just Gudas without a point.lol No one is winning the scoring race but we are scoring from everywhere. Hope everyone sees Kamp up there. 4th line NHL player.lol

Stansky and Vozelnik with more points than I would've guessed.

So we win tomorrow and we are through to the QF. Not officially yet cause GB can therotically still end up in front of us, but we all know they won't get 12 points out of those 4 games

So don't f*** it up tomorrow, so we can go on Canada calmly with QF in out pockets.

No points for Gudas yet as you say, but I think he has actually been very good for us, better than I had expected.

From what I've been reading, they still have 3 slots open. Even if they somehow landed both Necas and Pastrnak, that still leaves one slot open. Why don't they use it now to get Kulich or Blumel, and let them gel with the team in games against AUT and GB?

Agree with Kulich, but Blumel was not released by Stars. He is their reserve player for possible injuries in play off.

I think they are going all in and risk it for all the NHL players coming. That's Necas, Pasta, Zacha

Zacha said he will come, so we all know that means that no matter what we will still have one spot open lol.

Would love to see Kulich there, but sadly not gonna happen

Ehm Finland - Austria 2:3 ....

I am starting to be really scared of tommorows game lol
Normally id say start Mrazek and give him a second chance.. I thought that against Denmark. However... Gotta go with dostal here. I legit think Austria is winning tomorrow and not because we suck.. they are f***en good! Happy for them.. sad for us.

Who would have expected this before the tournament started? I was less concerned about Austria before the tournament than about Norway and Denmark… But now I am concerned! They really have momentum and confidence, and showed today that their good results against Canada and Switzerland were no flukes. They were actually better than Finland for the final two periods.

That said, they lost 1-5 against Denmark. Who knows what will happen tomorrow. No doubt they have a good chance to beat us on the basis of their performances to date - but three good games do not suddenly turn them into some sort of unbeatable overlords.

As a completely separate point, what a great tournament so far!!

It is.. and the Czech scheduling has been brilliant. We get Austria after a back to back.

I bet you never thought you’d be saying that.
I did not.. however, every year there is a surpise team.. it may be Austria this year. I don't even know who they have on their roster.lol Think I'm about to find out the hard way.

It's less dreary what the Finnish coach made us do, but the styles are similar. And we voluntarily left proven creative goal scorers at home just like last year. But apart from Kubalik and the PP, we look better than last year.

Am I to understand that we are playing the same as when Jalonen coached us? I really want to make sure I understand correctly..

That is what I see. You?
I can't believe you're serious.
I'm almost certain that we wouldn't have turned that game around against Norway. We are mentally set up completely differently, we play much more actively. Those coaches are completely different and it's obvious at first glance.

To be clear, I realize that the team has a lot of flaws and that they are not strong enough to play like the Swedes, the Americans or Canada. Every match they go through some kind of crisis, they let the opponent back into the match, but still, that team plays much more actively, more attractively. When I think back to the matches last year and the year before, many of them made me sick. We've all been cursing the brutally unattractive style here. And in my opinion, this year's performances cannot be compared with those of the past two years.

I also think that playing at home gives us that extra confidence boost and effort level.
