Well, shiiiiit. Thanks for clearing that up for me, I thought that was an optional team timing thing to better manipulate the cap!

There is cap element, but in terms of how long they are out it’s retroactive.Well, shiiiiit. Thanks for clearing that up for me, I thought that was an optional team timing thing to better manipulate the cap!
Yeah sorry but I have to bump this back because it’s wrong. At this exact moment, him or Neighbours would be the worst, as they are both in the middle of possibly breaking out. Peru has had injury problems in the past that have neutered his development. There are bigger name players that would hurt our current season's trajectory more, but that is less important during a season where we're not expected to go very far. I'd hate for a young guy who is just finding his stride to be sidelined yet again. That's more important than our hopes of being a 1st round exit.
I think finding out a player is unreliable and injury prone is a bad thing, not a good thing. It would have been a good thing if he wasn't hurt and was still playing well like he was when he got injured. That's why him being hurt at that time was arguably the worst possible scenario, because a player that had been near useless to your team was becoming a useful piece, and that was prevented by injury. A guy like Thomas goes down and that hurts your team way way more immediately, but unless it's a career-altering injury, he will eventually come back and likely return to form. No harm no foul because we're not winning anything WITH him this season. If this were a season where we were contending, then ya, a guy like Perunovich getting hurt would not be a huge deal because we're trying to win now and there are much more important players that would hurt our chances if they got hurt.Yeah sorry but I have to bump this back because it’s wrong.
Perunovich being injured isn’t the “worst case scenario” as you were saying. It’s actually a good thing that we now know that we shouldn’t commit any more time to this guy, because he isn’t reliable and can’t stay healthy. How many long-term injuries is this now for him? Enough is enough, we shouldn’t even waste our time giving him another contract this offseason. He’ll be 26 and still hasn’t proven himself. So, time is up.
It’s the same as Robby Fabbri. I don’t care how talented of a player someone is if he can’t stay on the ice. If you can’t stay on the ice, then that guy is no longer in my plans.
He sucks again so we’re not really that concerned. No Faulk update?
Last update I saw was post #48, basically just saying he was added to LTIR with a lower body injury. Haven’t seen any concrete info in regards to timeline for return, but maybe others have.No Faulk update?

Wow, surprising Kessel is getting sent down. I think it was Rivers on a recent broadcast who mentioned Kessel had been told by the org to look for permanent housing in St. Louis. Maybe the reporting was wrong, but if true that sucks for the player. Not to mention his play has largely been NHL bottom pairing quality or better (quite a bit better at times IMO). Probably had less to do with his play and more with waivers eligibility/other dman contracts tho.Faulk activated, Kessel sent down. Hopefully Kessel gets called back up once Scandella is sent out for whatever he gets

Was hoping we would get to see Kessel in a bottom pairing role with a healthy Faulk back, but oh well. I’m sure he’ll be back up sooner than later.
I don't see any reason to worry. Scandella is on the way out by the end of next week and Kessel will be back up.
Pretty confident, unless hes only getting offers for like a 3rd or 4th I don't see a way the Blues hold on to him.Just wondering, how confident are we actually that Scandella will be traded before the trade deadline?
His caphit is 3.275.000 so we will almost certainly have to retain 50% on his contact, so that leaves 1.637.500 for a new team. As a comparison: Bortuzzo had a caphit of 950.000 and only got us a 7th round pick (yes, I know his trade was mainly a gesture of goodwill) while he's not THAT much better than Scandella. So what do we expect to get in a trade for Scandella 50% retained? a 5th? 4th max? I have a hard time believing we will trade him if this is the return we can expect. Only way I see us trade him if he's a part of a larger deal with multiple parts.
Borts is not better than Scandella. Teams also only have to account for the amount of cap a player has left, not the whole thing. It’s prorated. But yes, the Blues could retain to make him even more attractive. My guess is Scandella is worth a 3rd. Wouldn’t be shocked if a team desperate for D pays a 2nd though.Just wondering, how confident are we actually that Scandella will be traded before the trade deadline?

Even if those are the offers, I’d still take it. Why would we turn down any free picks at this point for players like him and Kapanen?Pretty confident, unless hes only getting offers for like a 3rd or 4th I don't see a way the Blues hold on to him.
Agreed.Even if those are the offers, I’d still take it. Why would we turn down any free picks at this point for players like him and Kapanen?
What we don’t know is what level of pick Army thinks it’d be worth trading Scandella or Kapanen for. I also question if trading either would amount to “ripping the heart out of your team.” Trading Buchy absolutely would but Scandella or Kap? Nah.So the question for a bubble team, to Armstrong, is whether to hang onto pending UFAs because players are battling hard for a playoff spot or still trade them with the bigger picture in mind. It’s a delicate balance.
“It has to really improve your future,” Armstrong said. “Everyone has a level of pick where it’s just not enough to rip the heart out from your team.”

at this point, Scandella is a PK specialist and a veteran stay at home partner for young players like Perunovich and KesselThe Blues are a bubble team with an awful defense, and issues with the defensive ability of our LD. Scandella is a defense first LD. We've healthy scratched him 5 times and he averages 12 minutes a game. He averages the same as Rosen and Tucker. He averages less than Perunovich and Kessel. We play Krug almost 22 minutes a game rather than give Scandella more time.
So why us a contender giving a 3rd for someone we don't even want out there? I mean, there is a possibility someone may want veteran depth for a 7th or 8th D. But we are talking a 5th or later. Maybe a 4th if they really like him, but that is a stretch. And it is far from guaranteed anyone would offer anything.

his value to a playoff team is as a 6/7/8 depth piece for a playoff run, I doubt getting a high-ish pick for that, but someone will cough up something
no different than when the Blues picked up Michael Del Zotto, same reason, same kind of draft pick, multiple playoff teams make moves like this every yearA PK specialist who averages less PK time per game than Tory Krug?
Why does a playoff team need a partner to shephard prospects? That's an off season acquisition via free agency.
A deadline acquisition is someone who can help win hockey games. If the Blues don't think Scandella can, why would anyone else?
