Sweden won in OT, a 4 on 3 PP. A Hedman shot at the stick of Ek, who was parked in front of the goalie. A classic Ek deflection, and a classic celebration afterwards.
His lovely punchable face with the widest of smiles. Now he's the hero of Sweden.

Gus had a great game, on the goal he let in Hedman had a brainfart and failed to take away the stick of Hannes Björninen (Hedman was just standing beside him) who was left all alone in front of Gus and redirected the puck into the net. Oh sorry, he was not alone, another Finn was standing right beside him. Nothing Gus could do on that one.

Ek GWG, 5 shots, -1 18.38 TOI
Johansson 3 shots, 17.08 TOI
Brodin 17.57 TOI

Gus 19 saves, .950%

Team USA lost to the Czechs on a fluke goal off a Spacek shot that bounced arond and hit the chest of Zacha and in. No goal scored for USA. Sorry for you all.

Boldy 6 shots, 22.41 TOI

Hynes chewed about 37 chewing gums during the game and spoke a lot about the "Identity" of the team afterwards.

Another notable thing was Marcus Johansson throwing a heavy open ice hit, not sure I've ever seen him do that before.

Anyone get a good look at Spacek in this tournament? Numbers look good but interested how he did in the dzone.

Haven't watched too much of the tourney, but fun to see old-timey Wild prospect Christoph Bertschy with a strong game and ENG yesterday against Germany.

Yeah, I forgot about that. Marcus stood like a stonewall and the finn was falling on his ass. Looked like he was hurt on the bench too. The single most surprising moment so far in the tournament!

Didn't watch, but on paper, Gus sure didn't look to good. Let in 5 goals on 17 shots, and was pulled. JEE once again probably the best SWE player, with 1g,1a out of 3 total goals scored for his team.

meanwhile, Fiala and Nino playing a big part in beating Canada, so far. TBF, this is not an awe inspiring Canadian team.

Johansson scored the first goal, and it looked like he scored another but the puck hit a defenders skate and went in.
Czechs scored a couple more and led 4-2 when Jan Ruuta hit Lundeström with a chicken wing. That should of course be a 5 minute major, but the refs saw nothing.
Rutta got suspended after the game.

The next faceoff Ek lost cleanly and Czechs scored immediatly and Gus got yanked.

Congrats to Chechs for reaching the final, well deserved.

Ek 1+1, 4 shots, 16.11 TOI
Johansson 1 goal, 3 shots, +1, 18.30 (only + player for Sweden)
Brodin 2 shots, -2, 18.06 TOI

Gus 12 saves, 0.705% 29.03 TOI

Sweden won the bronze, 4-2 vs Canada. MoJo scored the last goal on Brodins assist, Ek scored the first of the tournament for Sweden 2 weeks ago. Gus was in net again after last day's debacle and he was much better this time.

The 3 chosen best players for team Sweden for this tournament was Johansson, Erik Karlsson and Joel Eriksson Ek.
