Don't you think the Senators would have at least attempted to sign bonk to a lower deal first?
I wouldn't put money down on any player being "all over" a deal that pays them less money... no matter what the current league wide situation is.
Besides, if you could get him to sign a lower deal, or are sure you can, why trade for him? Why not just sign him as a UFA?
I don't think Bonk is going to be playing for less than the $3.5 he made last year... no links, just a feeling I have.
