Extra 1st round pick to Sharks (10-20) or swap for top 10 pick

What would it take to get 1st round pick in the 10-20 range for the Sharks in the 2010 draft? (This would be a draft day trade.) Feel free to make proposals for anyone except Marleau, Thornton, Nabokov, Couture, Setoguchi, Boyle, and Vlasic, 2010 draft picks, and high round (1st, 2nd, 3rd) 2011 picks.

Edit: Completely forgot Heatley and Jason Demers as not being available.

Why does San Jose want to give up present for future? They are in win now mode.

Well, Pavelski, Clowe, prospects like Petrecki, Ferriero, Zalewski, Braun, Groulx, etc., a goalie prospect (preferably one not named Stalock).

(Notes: for Pavelski, I'd want a pick closer to 10 than 20).

For example, I think that Petrecki+Clowe+Zalewski/Ferriero for the 15th pick (I'm not sure who that currently is), would be reasonable.

It's practically a guarantee that someone will need to go to make cap space next year, and there are an awful lot of guys in the system looking for NHL time, hence (Zalewski, Ferriero, McGinn, there's also Zackrisson in Sweden to think of.) We also have replacements for these guys in the system with Viedensky, Wingels, (possibly Varone), etc. We're also bursting at the seams with goalies.

Clowe alone could net a top 15th pick (Minnesota's?).

Would you be interested in Vancouvers 30th overall pick?

Really? If that's the case, I pull the trigger right away. I'm not sure if you're a Minnesota fan, but if there are any reading this, I'd be more than happy for Clowe for Minnesota's 1st. That could even be a top 10 pick. If the Sharks could grab someone like Forbort, Bjugstad, Pysyk, or maybe even Kabanov or Niederreiter if they drop and then grab Toffoli or Merrill with their 2nd 1st rounder, I'd be very happy with their draft.

So you want something of value but aren't willing to give up anything.

I know you didn't mention Pavelski and Clowe but I don't see either of them worth a 1st rounder in that range....thats my opinion anyway

DW tried to get the 5th overall pick with it last season, so apparently he thinks it's worth it. I don't think Clowe's value has dropped any since. To be clear, I don't think he's worth the 5th overall, but he's certaintly worth 10-20.

For perspective, your talking about a proven, current, NHL'r with a fairly rare skill-set. A playmaking power forward who can play either wing and can and will throw with the big boys. No GM is going to take a 'maybe' top 6 prospect over a sure thing if they have the cap space. Clowe + our late 1st could probably garner a top 10 (and I would do that if I was DW).

Besides Clowe, we've got great prospects in Ferriero, Zalewski, Joslin, Moore, Groulx, + our goalie factory.

If Kessel went for two high firsts, Pavelski or Clowe could net a top-10 pick...rumor was DW turned down a top-10 pick for Clowe last year...

If this team goes out in the first or second round again, i wouldn't mind seeing him shipped out.

How has Petrecki played in the AHL this season? The Canucks need some defensive prospects and if we draft some (say somebody in the first round this spring) we're still years away from them helping the team at all.

I wouldn't be entirely against the Canucks trading their pick for a solid prospect that has a better timeline for playing at the NHL level.

I don't think trades like this happen very often, and I don't know anything about Petrecki so this may be a pointless post.

He has had his struggles. He's learning that he isn't the biggest and strongest player on the ice anymore like he was in college.

DONE.

Clowe is worth a low first rounder (below 20). When we try to unload salary for this offseason, I expect Clowe or Murray to go first.

I'm not claiming they're all going to be superstars. But Couture is IMO best rookie in the AHL, and he with Zalewski and Ferriero have made for the top line in the AHL. (Both Ferriero and McGinn have had reasonable success in the NHL too, in fact Ferriero had made the Sharks out of camp but was Zackrisson was the second highest scoring prospect in the SEL until being injured. Viedensky has been doing quite well in the WHL, especially for a 7th round pick, and Wingels is arguably the best forward on one of the top 3 NCAA teams in the nation as a junior.

Umberger got a 19th overall pick from CBJ a couple of drafts ago.

Clowe could probably get a pick from 15-20 if a team wants/needs a player like him

Montréal's first in 2011 + Spacek + Ben Maxwell for Clowe and Murray ?

Come on... you know you want to.

No, the Sharks have all their picks for 2011, and that draft sounds like it is going to be a bit weaker. How about Montreal's 1st in 2010 + Subban or (Kristo+Weber) for Clowe, Murray, and Zalewski.
