Here is a great one of the inside. You can really see how close we were to the action....

Unfortunately the full size image is like 5MB and I couldn't find hosting that didn't resize it.

BTW, the Rangers beat us like 5-0

I remember my first game like it was yesterday. ahh sigh. A puck landed right next to my dad and he fought a guy for it. The other guy got the puck and kicked out. It was hilarious.

I made the drive up from Ottawa to the REAL Garden about a dozen times, it was dirty, old, disgusting.............it was beautiful!!!! Man I miss that building and the atmosphere.

My dad and I were frequent visitors at the Chicago Stadium, he was often sent to the city on business, it was always exciting when he told me to pack my bags, yanked me out of school for a few days, and we went to about 8 Blackhawks games during my High School days.

2 of the best atmosphere`s in Hockey, please don`t post any more pics of the Garden, kills me to see it!!! HAHA

Last game I saw in there was on Mar 2nd, 1991. Saturday afternoon game and we lost to Buffalo. Seen a few at the Fleet/Shawmut/BankNorth/TD garden.......but it isn't even close. The old garden blows the doors off the new one... the sights, sounds and smells.

BTW if you ever want to look up an historic result, here is your page..

The old garden was a million times better to see a game live than the Shawmut/Fleet/TD/Banknorth Center at Boston Garden. Nothing really compares, or can to the feel of that old building. That being said, the most insane picture of the old place I can recall was when they had torn down the wall facing 93. I want to say that the Globe was the paper that published it, but you could also drive by and just look over into the inside of the garden as it was being torn down to see the same shot. Sad to see it like that, but it was still an amazing picture.

Great picture!

Yes they are. I remember the first time I drove by it while they were tearing it down like it was yesterday. They only had the back wall out and you could see the whole bowl minus the missing wall. It was an incredibly eery view into the place.

Seriously?
Come on man, one of the best things about the Big Dig was the removal of the hideous elevated train lines and/or highways. Now you can actually see our beautiful city while you walk the streets, instead of looking around and seeing nothing but the underbelly of a hundred year old wreck.

Now you can walk around the North End and see all the way to the Garden, or all the way to the harbor.
You can get out of the Garden and see skyscrapers, and lights, and the Zakim, as a person who born and raised in Boston I have to say things are infinitely better than before....

The times-they-are-a-changin' indeed....for the better.....

Check out the before and after pics here:

http://www.grumblengrin.com/boston-g...llion-can-buy/

It is almost impossible to believe but they are quite literally taken from the exact same vantage point, (facing the Garden, which would be on your left). In the old days you would be under those cars, now you can see, and walk around.

Found another before and after shot where you can actually see the Garden.

http://agentsofurbanism.com/2008/02/...et-incomplete/

And one last view:

Especially with all the vermin sneaking in and out of the fire escapes.

I agree..

But I do miss the view from the green line after it left Haymarket and turned left in front of the Old Garden. My uncle used to call it "the money shot". Took me a while before I knew what that meant.
