If Edmonton decided to trade Penner

If Edmonton decided to trade Penner while his value is high would your team want him and what would you give for him?

I doubt many GMs would bite on Penner until he proves more consistent (ie. over half a season to a full season) would pay through the nose for Penner. If he does prove it isn't a fluke no way the Oilers move him as he would be an elite powerforward. (I'd say his value at that time would be a 1st + a very good prospect/good young roster player) If he slowss down but still improves I'd say his value would be around a 2nd + good prospect/young player.

Why would Tambo move him now? He is finally the player that management wanted. 2nd in ATOI for forwards, plays in all situations, on pace for 50/40 and a league leader in +-. Not to mention he is only 26.

Because this is the ideal time to trade Penner if the Oilers were ever inclined to do so. I believe that was outlined in the first post.

but the question still stands... why would Tambo trade him... there is no way he is gonna get a better return.. 1st + a good prospect wont make EDM better since Penner is only 26, fits into Oilers system and is signed for a while..

So can we expect an "If Washington decided to trade Ovechkin" thread because his value may never be higher? How about Kopitar? Malkin?

Why Tambellini would trade him isn't the question here - the topic title says IF Edmonton decided to trade Penner. That's it.

I'm not even sure what to say to this, except that every time I wind up posting in a proposal thread involving an Oiler who happens to be playing well, I immediately regret it 10 minutes later.

The premise is a little silly, though. Penner (as he is right now) is exactly the sort of player Edmonton needs more of. In terms of team needs, it'd be like Colorado looking into trading Craig Anderson earlier in the year.

(Yes, I know the contract history situations are different. That's not the point I was making. )

Edmonton is already too small and lacks offensive firepower.

So they wouldn't trade their biggest and most productive forward.

Filppula, Lebda, Pyett + 3rd. Something along those lines.

As a Leaf fan we have nothing to offer that you would want, Tlusty + Stempniak? Yeah didn't think so...

I think there's pretty much no way a team would offer as much for Penner as he offers to the Oilers at this point.

He's shown that he's just as capable of struggling as he is of being an impact player.. what's to say he doesn't struggle on his new team as well?

As a Canucks fan I don't think there's a good trade there. I'd probably offer one of our wingers plus a defenseman like SOB and a pick, except of all of our wingers either I don't want to trade them because we need their speed, I don't want to trade them because we need their physical play, or you probably wouldn't be interested because they're old.

So an "elite powerforward" nets you a 1st rounder and a good prospect? You need to leave hfboards once in awhile.

A player whose had an excellent month and a half is "an elite powerforward"?

If anything I think you need to leave HF everyone once and a while, since the "what have you done for me lately" seams to have permeated in you.

well im a big fan of 4 teams..hawks are my first love ..then im a fan of the leafs and the rangers and the kings...i would love to see penner on 1 of those teams...ill make a proposal for each edmonton fans lmk if they are even close ....i think penner is a beast

CHICAGO-sharp+beach+1st..or versteeg, ladd, skille, and barker could be included

TORONTO-hagman+tlusty+poni....or kaberle for penner+1st..pretty much will give you whatever you want besides kessel,kadri,schenn,white,bozak..and preferably not stalberg either but if it took him to get penner i could live with it

RANGERS-sanguinetti/mcdonough+stepan/werek+1st

KINGS-teuburt+schenn+1st

i think those are all fair value especially the hawks and kings offfers they might even be overpayment...? is will edmonton trade him for anything reasonable?
