World Championship Division 1 Group A

Tournament is taking part in Oslo Norway this week.

I'm interested in news and game reports on Andrei Kastsitsyn #23 from Belarus. I can obtain game statistical reports from the IIHF website but I'd prefer information on his overall play. http://www.iihf.com/hydra/tournaments/output/WSIA/

In Belarus's first game today against Belguim, Kastsitsyn was held pointless with 3 shots on net. Belarus won 10:0. I can see he was on the ice for the 2nd Belarus goal in the first period, which was a PP marker.

Any info or links to sites that recap the games would be appreciated regardless of language.

The norwegian media is only covering the norwegian matches, so if you are intrested i could provide a tape from Norway-Belarus which is played sunday 18th (with norwegian commentators).

Belarus survived a scare from Great Britian today with a 5:4 victory, to improve to 3-0.

#23 Andrei Kastsitsyn has an assist on V. Tsyplakov's 2nd period power play goal that gave Belarus a 4:1 lead. GB made it interesting making the final score 5:4 for Belarus and almost pulled off the tie by hitting the post late in the game.

Next game for Belarus will be against Hungary on Friday.

Norway beat Hungary today 6-4 after being behind for most of the game thanks to horrible goaltending in the first period...

Yeah, that one was a shocker, given how the Dutch teams tend to demolish their Belgian counterparts in the cup competition...

Most press beforehand already stated that however bad the Dutch would play they would not relegate anyways since they have the Belgians in their group...

Not to talk about in the last period when Hungary went up to 4-3 after the norwegian goalie let in a shot from the redline

Fortunately Olsen-Vikingstad-Thoresen was hot as fire as scored 6 goals totalt. Øystein Olsen had 5 goals and an assist.

That deserves a dancing banana:

Yes, Belarus 7 Hungary 1
Kastsitsyn had the Game winner and 2 helpers.

So after 4 games, Kastsitsyn is tied for 8th overall in the Tounament scoring race.
4 GP 3G 3A 6Pts 0PIM +4, 2 points off the lead.

Belarus needs to defeat Norway on Sunday to earn promotion back to the top WC group in '05. In Division 1 Group B, Slovenia won the group and will be the other team promoted to The World Championship top 16 in Austria '05.

So Belarus beat Norway today 5-2, to secure a berth in the 2005 World Championship.

Kastsistyn finished tied for 12th in scoring. Not bad for a 19 year old.
5GP 3G 3A 6Pts 0PIM +4

That should be all from him this year so hopefully Gainey can sign him this summer. It will be interesting to see him play in his final U20 tournament this XMas.

Patrik Thoresen finished 4th in scoring with 5GP 4G 5A 9Pts +3 23Shots and was Norways best player during the tournament.

Ole-Kristian Tollefsen had 5GP 1G 0A 1Pts +6 7Shots. Played a good tournament and showed us some of his hitting ability too.
