Actually, I think they might pick up the pace. They just finished their longest road trip of the season.
Kopitar is on pace for 132 points. Smyth is on pace for 114.
I will bet you every asset I currently own, every dollar I make in the next 10 years plus a lifetime avatar bet against one shiny penny that neither of them hit those markers.

Sounds like a plot for the next Adam Sandler movie.

I know, right. Eventually other teams are going to figure out how to play against that top line. The production is going to go down and their defense is going to cost them games. L.A. has a very good chance of being on the outside looking in again.

Everything in this post could equally be applied against the Oilers.

They're a better team. I wouldn't give worse than even money on their playoff chances at this point.
Only thing that concerns me with this godly trio? They're lighting it up at paces they can not possibly sustain but are only a +7 combined.

Pretty much, sir, pretty much.
Also, Ryan Smyth is a hockey player's hockey player. Not that I want him back on the Oilers, but boy do I miss him, he looks great in King silks. He is an absolute beauty.

You're on. How could I possibly not take that bet.
The Oilers have three lines with players sniffing a high PPG (not to mention they're injury riddled), the Kings have exactly one.
LA faces more risk.
I agree with you but do you honestly think that all three of the Oilers lines will keep up the scoring and that the Kings won't get any secondary scoring from the likes of Dustin Brown, Alexander Frolov, etc.?

Ya agreed, but I think it's not fair to make the comparison. The Oilers are far behind them as far as development goes.
The Kings are going for it. They traded for Smyth because they feel the next two years could be contending years. They're at the tipping point right now.
We're just right at the start of that process. So for the Oilers to be in the same boat as the Kings early in the season is actually a pretty good sign for us.
totally shocking record. I would have guess they'd be no more than .500, perhaps scraping the bottom again.
Anderson and that offence are doing just fine.
I didn't pay close enough to their off-season I guess. Who did they get for Smyth again? Did they do anything besides trading Smyth, drafting Matt Duchene and signing Anderson? This is a real riddle.
