Sweet, thanks. Better than I expected on the prices, though I know I"m going to get stuck paying secondary market prices anyway...hopefully I can at least snag some of those red seats for ~$300.
I still don't understand why they are setting it up that way.
I'd put one of the goals near homeplate with the other toward 2nd base.
This is how it was set up last year. If they did it the way you wanted it, the broadcast view wouldn't have the 'Monster in the backdrop. And lets be honest, the backdrop is half the beauty of the event. And with it being the Green Monster, it's even more important that it' set up the way it is.
I didnt think the view from the lower section would be that bad
You'd be looking straight at the boards. You wouldn't see anything below the players waist. These seats are pretty much worthless and for people who "just want to be there." I believe they're also giving thousands of these seats away to youth hockey players and such. The seats that are good for baseball are the worst seats for this event and vice versa.
Am I the only one who could care less about these games? This one not being an exception. I'd never in a million years risk terrible weather, freezing cold, or both to see a game, even a Bruins game.
I think it's an interesting marketing concept, but for a long time fan like myself, it doesn't pose any attraction what so ever.

Not to mention the pricing is insane.
I couldn't disagree with you more. I hope it snows that day and I would love to be in attendance for it.
In the last couple months I have gone to "I will pay whatever it takes to be there" to "meh.. might be better from my couch"
Fenway is way too awkwardly shaped for this
history schmistory
it should have been at Gilette so that more tickets would be availible, the view would be much better, and people could actually tailgate.. imagine a snow bowl atmosphere for a hockey game

There are 60,000 Patriots fans who are not afraid of the New England weather. I don't think the B's will have a hard time trying to find 39,000 people to fill Fenway on January 1st for a once in a life time event. I will be there. Sitting behind a pole if I have to. I can watch it on the dvr later. You can only be there ONCE. Can't wait!
I have a 7 foot long panoramic picture of opening day 2005 at Fenway hanging on my livingroom wall. Beautiful 2004 WS Champs banner hanging from the monster. I would love to have one the same size of the 2010 Winter Classic some place else in the house. Though my wife may be less forgiving this time around

I can't wait and I think most would agree with me. I'd gladly pay $125 for a bleacher seat with a decent view. As for the weather, dress appropriately and all is well. I wonder how many people at the "snow bowl" against the Raiders in 2001 remember the hardships the weather brought or if they remember what an amazing experience it was. I love to snowboard and if I can keep myself warm in the wind at the top of a mountain I think I'll be fine at Fenway in the afternoon.
I don't know if you're a season ticket holder or not, but if you aren't then you don't have to worry about anything because you'll be able to watch it from home. If you are a season ticket holder then it's still a wonderful thing for you even if you don't go. Since most other people want to go you could sell your tickets on ebay and help pay for some of the games in the nice warm TD Garden or even transfer the opportunity to buy the tickets to someone you know who would probably be super stoked and thankful.
Even if there's no attraction for you, there is for most people, and I certainly can't see any negatives to it.

I agree completely. Much like I'm not a fan of MSG, I can't stand Fenway. I love going because that means I'm watching the Sox, but I think it's one of the worst ballparks in baseball. Stade D'Olympique was the only MLB park I've been to that I thought was decidedly worse.
As soon as the Winter Classic at Fenway rumors started I was disappointed, because Gillette would be such a better venue. That being said, I understand why they're doing it at Fenway. Even though it's a craphole, Fenway has garnered a certain mystique about it around the country and the decision to play it there is for NBC's national broadcast of the event and no other reason.
Agreed, that's where I'm going to try to sit. Hopefully they'll still be available by the time I'm able to buy. If not there then the $110 right field upper bleachers. If not then I don't know...

it's fun! put on the LJ's & boots, fill up a flask, see a little new year's pageantry, jets flying over, players psyched like little kids and wearing throwbacks! it's a hoot! I can't wait!

The winter classic is all about TV $$$. IMO, more people will tune in to see a game at Fenway than at a run of the mill football stadium.
Oh, and it was released that 307,000 people signed up for the ticket lottery.
I still wish they did it at Gillette Stadium. : The NHL is obviously doing it for the money so why not put it in an stadium that's twice as big and the seats are likely to be much better.

Again, because it's about the money. The money that they'd bring in for the bigger seating capacity pales in comparison to the ad revenue NBC will be generating.
I agree, I want it to be at Gillette. It would be SO much better as a fan. It also makes more sense for the Network to have it at Fenway. The guy in Texas sitting on his couch flipping channels at noon on New Year's day is more likely to stop and watch this crazy hockey thing at Fenway (because of all that "mystique" that people around the country think Fenway has) rather than if they were playing it at Gillette Stadium.

Think?
Fenway is filled to the brim with the dictionary definition of mystique.
And this is from a guy who grew up in Boston. I used to go to 30/40 games a year as a kid ($5.00 for standing room). For the rest of the country who may have never had the pleasure the mystique is only heightened.
They looked at Gillette and from what i heard it was the preferred site over Fenway not only for capacity but site lines. But it takes 2 weeks to set up the rink and there was no way of knowing if the Pats will still be playing leading up to January 1st (most likely, they will be). Fenway was going to be available for sure, is in the heart of the city, and does have the mystique going for it.
I'm curious to see what seats are left when I get to pick... I'm hoping there will be some blue ones available at least.
