Politely of course, but first Gagnon bashes Tremblay's assertion that Dagenais, Abid and Grenier are casting a shadow on the Habs by playing in Europe.
Then Tremblay bashes Gagnon's article on whether Team Canada B would have chances of getting a medal. On the front page, no less.
Then Gagnon replies, amusingly pointing out that the camp is actually in Calgary and -- I kid you not! -- answering Tremblay's question as to why why Gomez didn't get a Team Canada invite (hint: it's Team Canada). And explaining why he thinks Canada B would have a good shot at the bronze.
In a way it looks like Gagnon is engaging in a battle of wits with an unarmed man, but it's fun to see Tremblay get picked a part by a writer of his own newspaper.
(BTW, RT is hilarious lately. Dagenais, Grenier and Abid, seriously? Why didn't Gomez get invited to Team Canada's camp, seriously? How can anyone still take him seriously).
I wonder if this is a sign of a deeper schism in la Presse? Will this start affecting their performances on paper? Which of the two is the rotten apple? Maybe we can have sources inside la Presse's dressing room to tell us what's going on, or maybe we can just wildly speculate?
Does that paper have a sports editor?
Is there a link for the Team Canada B story? That sounds interesting.
Even if I do not know if Abid and Grenier... and even Dagneais are worth sparing... it is sad to see them being associated with a man so full of unpleasantness such as Rejean Tremblay. They did not ask for it.
Gagnon is a little goofy sometimes but more tolerable.
He keeps provin the nickname I invented for him. Good oL Rejaune, he'll never change.

But the difference is that Stastny, like Brett Hull in his career, could have played for Canada. Gomez is friggin Alaskan and doesn't even hold a Canadian citizenship, whereas Stastny does.

He's in a stage in his career were he keeps getting worse each day. I heard him talk the other day at CKAC and I just feel bad for him because he comes out the most outrageous stupidities. He completely goes off topic and starts going all political for nothing.
I respect opinions even if I dont agree with them, but Rejean Tremblay definetely has close to none sympathy for something that isn't franco. If not, then it sure damn sounds like it.
I think it's time for all these TV/radio shows to evolve. Most of their employees like Tremblay, Perron, Bergeron, Demers, are old and simply don't seem to understand much. Demers is probably the most tolerable but I still can't believe someone who can't speak proper french is on radio/TV, let alone be named a Senator!..Seriously, only in Canada.
I think it's time for them to hire younger analysts. Actually, it doesn't have much to do with age. Just hire some freaking people that make sense.
A show with best hfposters here would be much more interesting and I'm sure the mass population watching would learn more than they do now.
It'll never happen, but imagine a sports show with a sort of "Daily Show" format. Jon Stewart's show has evolved over the years to the point where he spends as much time spoofing news *coverage* as he does actual news and newsmakers. And of course, the news outlets provide him a bushel of low hanging fruit so he's never lacking for stuff to make fun of.
If you had a guy who was sharp and witty and really knew his sports, you'd have one hell of a show. Spend the first segment going over the sports news of the day, dissect the previous night's game, whatever. Then have a 'media watch' segment where Mr. Witty and Knowledgable can sit back and just crucify the mediots. You've got Don Cherry, PJ Stock and RT to work with for starters. Throw in the odd dart at Michael Landsberg and Nick Kypreos and you're golden.

My rant of the day..
Problem is, most young people who could be analysts are still working in the hockey world (either as coaches or players). And I suppose that the bosses of the sports stations in Montreal prefer adding "veterans" who have seen a lot. I wouldn't mind having old people working as analysts as long as they update themselves on how the NHL works and evolves instead of living in the past all the time.
Also, those analysts mostly only have contacts in the Quebec hockey world, whereas the TSN analysts have contacts all around the NHL, which makes their opinion and information very limited.
One person that I would really like to see as an analyst someday is Guy Boucher. His interviews are so interesting.

There are guys in Quebec that have contacts in the NHL. Pedneault for one. I think the problems with RDS is they only think about ratings. And bringing old players or old coachs they believe brings them that.
I checked their website, bravo. They had a poll question about whether you care about Olympic hockey...with one possible response "If it's not Habs, it's not real hockey." That's classic. Just like the slanted "news" polls you'd see on Fox or MSNBC, brilliant. Plus a reference to Abdullah the Butcher.
Put them on TV, let 'em do immediate rebuttal of Antichambre. It'll be gold.
