Most likely means they are not re-signing Zherdev, or a trade is coming...

Does Sather throw darts at names or something?
If there is a trade it better make sense.

How is he a nut for signing a winger that was needed?
So he's a nut for signing a player that he had to sign?
It was either sign a guy for it or trade for one. Why bother moving assets if you can sign a perennial 20 goal/40 point scorer for nothing?

If I had to guess, the end of Zherdev.
Doesn't make much sense to trade Callahan or Higgins.

this is a good signing...cheaper then zherdev and scores goals.
Zherdev should be packaged or traded for a center!

Sather must be the worst cap management GM in this game, bar none.
He finally frees up Gomez contract and gets a decent winger and a good prospect in return but instead of using it wisely he goes out and gets an injury prone winger at 7.5M$ and a mediocre winger.

I don't see why that's a problem. At least he's able to rectify his mistakes without trading a 1st round pick unlike some GMs out there.

Good signing for the Rags. Their PP was atrocious last year and Al will help with that. Has one of the biggest shots in the league. Some nights he'll be one of the best players on the ice, others he'll be invisible and/or terrible. Tends to float in and out of games. Below average 5-on-5 player and doesn't really use his good size to his advantage. Needs a playmaking center to be successful and set up that big shot. He's money in shootouts, too, so the Rags probably just added a couple points. Just my opinion.

Isn't getting a center for Gaborik a priority? I know the offseason is still young and all but they have Drury-Dubinsky-Anisimov down the middle, no?

That's what I'm hoping/expecting. Anything over will be too much. 2.5 max.
