Jay Bo finishes with 3 points and a +3. Best stats for a defenseman in the game.

He also had the least time of all the defenders. Wonder what he could have done had he gotten as much time as the non-deserving Komisarek.

It was a fun game to watch. 'Course, I'm not a Luongo fan, so it was extra fun for me to see Ovie score the winning goal. Unfortunately, I'm the ONLY one in my house who's not a fan.

Liked that, too. I couldn't figure out if Lundqvist(sp) was letting some of those in to keep the game competitive or not. It was entertaining, enjoyed seeing all the guys out there having a good time.

I thought that was the All-Star game, not the Montreal Canadiens' former player remembrance game.

I didn't like it, it's an All-Star game, imo, a lot of that stuff could've went down during the skills competition. Thought it was a bit much, but then again, I don't like anything about the Canadiens. Their history is obviously impressive, don't like some of what comes with it.

their history is the history of the sport. i don't get the hate man. this is where the game we all love started. why begrudge them a few minutes in a meaningless showcase?

No point to tough defense really in the ASG, Spree .. It's more about having fun, showcasing the stars, and making sure no one gets injured .. Since the game doesn't count in the standings, you really can't have these guys laying checks, going down to block shots and playing much more than pokecheck defense ..

yes but... did anyone see the nhl network's re-broadcast of the 80 and 83 ASG yesterday afternoon? wow! they were actually real hockey games. very different era and it wasn't all-out hitting but guys were actually playing some defense and there was at least a little intensity.

Granted zeroG, but think of the major difference between then and now. Even as not-so-far back as the early 80s, these guys weren't "making a living" playing hockey. I can't find the records back past 1990-91, but the average salary in the NHL at that point was ~$271K. Now it's almost $2M. Teams are more concerned over protecting their investment and players are more concerned over protecting their abilities to continue making that kind of money..

Hate? I don't hate them, that'd be dumb. However, I don't like a lot of what comes along with that team.
