FINAL Round: Worst Canadien In Recent History?
Another freaking tie. I am not doing a run off this time. In Round 7, Johan Witehall and Christian Laflamme tied for 8th. Thus, 8th and 9th go out and this round it to determine the FINAL entry on our top ten list.
Garth Murray and Pierre Sevigny received 0 votes. So, I DQed them. They're clearly not crappy enough.
I've added the following four players to replace the DQs and winners: Andre Bashkirov (used to get votes early, then stopped, try him again), Eric Houde (how'd he get missed!), Marko Kiprusoff (terrible) and David Aebischer (if only for that Buffalo game).
----
Worst Montreal Canadiens in Recent Memory
1. Patrick Traverse (26.44%)
2. Sergei Samsonov (24.14%)
3T. Mariusz Czerkawski (15.49%)
3T. Janne Niinimaa (15.49%)
5. Sergei Berezin (21%)
6. Matt Higgins (28.38%)
7. Juha Lind (14.71%)
8T. Christian Laflamme (18.42%)
8T. Johan Witehall (18.42%)
10.
---
In honor of a recent thread with the best 100 Canadiens of all time, I am opening a poll to figure out the worst Montreal Canadien of recent history.
I did far more research than I would like to admit. So here is my criteria:
-Must have played between 1984-85 and today (IE: Koivu & Roy's current career span combined)
-Only Montreal stats, regular season, count.
-Must have played 20 or more games for Montreal.
Now, like the prospect polls, I will nominate 15 guys, but post more players here. In each poll "other" is an option. If other wins, then I will figure out who the heck was gathering those votes and redo that round with them in it.
I will post the list of nominees I came up with in full, including career Habs stats, in the subject thread.
My nominations are based on actual statistical badness, my own memory and in some cases, popular demand. The actual nominees will be at my discretion to start. Some people - O'Byrne - are solely on this list to demonstrate their relative stats and will not be in the poll unless there is truly popular demand.
Poll closes in one day.
Here is the list of people I considered.
