Such a simple concept, really, but it's quite genius.
It really makes Jon's life that much more upsetting.

I'm guessing that the message of the site is that talking to your pets is not a far cry from talking to nobody at all and thus shows how pathetic Jons life really is without the sugar coated-ness of Garfield replying.
I mean we all know how lame Jons life is but don't actually get the whole picture without Garfield thinking to himself.
It's pretty funny without Garfield. I used to watch the cartoon that came on ytv many years ago, it wasn't that bad. The halloween specials were fun to watch as well.
People seem to forget that the cat doesn't actually talk back. It's basically Jon talking to himself.
I've been reading these for a while. I like them, but I think I'd prefer if it was just Garfield's dialogue that was removed. Remind me never to talk to cats again.
another one to keep an eye on, although it's long been gone, is the Dysfunctional Family Circus. It's not to the point where they remove captions completely, but they do remove them and replace them with captions that are in some cases NSFW. Even Bil Keane, who was the original writer for Family Circus, saw some of the comics and said that some were better than the original comics.
I want to say that somebody mentioned them a week or so ago, but I could be thinking of another board.
I had never seen Realfield before but that's amazing.
I guess I was confused about Garfield Without Garfield -- I thought Garfield was there but on the floor, not visible in the panel. It bothered me that Jon always stood next to a chest-high platform so Garfield could look him in the eye. Now I'm not sure how I feel about it.
