He'd look good on kovalchuck's line. Not a fan of this move. Canucks gave up on him too soon, cause pyatt sucks, but has size so is on the 2nd line by default when wellwood deserves that spot on merit.
I guess the Canucks thought it was more important to have good depth on defense for injures than keep a forward that would only draw in 1 in 5-6 games.
If they need a forward they will likely call-up Grabner or Ouellet

At least knows where his own zone is. Wellwood looks lost half the time if he doesn't have the puck or isn't on the powerplay.
Obligatory "Atlanta will pick him up because __________" post.
I think if Atlanta wanted him, they could've had him the first time he was on waivers, no? I think Calgary could jump in or Minnesota. There should be a taker.
I am definitely not a fan of this move but there was absolutely no room for him on the roster since Canucks would like dress the toughest roster possible. If he does clear, then he will be an excellent addition to the second line for the Moose and help Grabner with his development.
Nope his conditioning is fine. For those that don't know, the canucks lines are set, so he would only draw in on 4th line duty, which doesn't suit him. Pyatt is on the second line because of his size even though he doesn't play big and since raymond is so small, they feel that putting wellwood on the 2nd line too would make it too small. Therefore, pyatt gets that spot strictly due to his size and not skill, whereas wellwood would have that spot easily if he was bigger or raymond was bigger.
Wellwood wasn't actually that bad he just ended up being the odd man out in Vancouver, once Demitra settled on the 2nd line center spot. He's being waived now because Bieksa's return gives us 24 skaters, Davidson, Nycholat, Brown, and Wellwood being the extra's. We want the depth on defense for obvious reasons so the first two stay, and Canucks management don't think Brown (nothing special but still a good young gritty 4th liner type) would clear waivers for some reason.

umm, that waived him because if Bieksa came back they would be over the limit of 23 players (24)
He'd look good if he actually got in shape and started taking his career seriously. Sadly, I doubt either of these things will happen.
Nope, he's in shape and that has nothing to do with it. You'd know the reason if you followed the canucks. The ideal 2nd line would be wellwood b/w raymond and demitra, but people feel that line would get pushed around, so pyatt is on that line even though he doesn't deserve it. Some team out there will have a spot for wellwood.
