Hillarious how aftonbladet calls him "bom-bom" like "boom boom"... Swedish media likes to give out new nicknames. Impressive how they mention him as the third Swedish defenceman in the club alongside Stralman and Frogren. What happened to Staffan Kronwall??
These clowns just have no idea what they are writing about... They are not a tiny bit interested in the sport whatsoever.
Didn't the Leafs try this before with Derrick Walser and he ended up just going back to Europe? Or did he end up sticking around?
I think he went back, if I remember correctly. I recall there being some confusion with his status soon after he was picked up, but I can't say for certain that he didn't stay.
This news made me search for Boumedienne on Wikipedia. This is what came up: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boumedienne. Turns out Earl from My Name is Earl was President of Algeria.

To be fair, aftonbladet has no clue of any subject.
I'm very surprised he's signed a two-way deal. He played in Hershey last year on a one-way NHL deal, i.e. earning NHL money. He's 30 and willing to risk earning AHL money? You'd expect there to be an out clause in case he doesn't make the team, but those Swedish articles only state he'd earn a lower salary in the AHL. I'm very surprised if he's genuinely prepared to toil in the AHL for less money. If that's the case, he must have a low opinion of Toronto's current Swede-infested D. Or maybe he's just decided he wants to take one final stab at the NHL before returning to Finland permanently.

He obviously couldn't get a one year deal from anyone and settled for AHL vet. Doubt he even gets a call up, Walser didn't even get a look.
He could have carved out a solid NHL career for himself had he come back over right away after the lockout, but for some reason or another he stayed in Sweden. Then he wanted to come back over later but got injured and stayed in Sweden again. He finally came back over in '07, and the Caps didn't have room for him anymore, and now he's chasing his NHL dream in Toronto. I'm kind of surprised he just didn't go back to Europe.
