New prospects lists

Edit: Updated after Tukonen trade.
I made my list over a week ago. I didn't include any prospect that played in a NHL regular season game for the Stars(Stephan or Crombeen) but did include Pushkarev since he hasn't.
It's mostly based on potential that's why Sawada is ranked lower. I don't view him more then a checking line right wing and others are more skilled as well.

Sacchetti and Benn are basically tied IMO .

1. Ivan Vishnevskiy
2. James Neal
3. Nico Sacchetti
4. Jamie Benn
5. Fabian Brunnström
6. Richard Bachman
7. Perttu Lindgren
8. Scott Winkler
9. Philip Larsen
10.Tom Wandell
11. Lauri Tukonen
12. Ondrej Roman
13. Konstantin Pushkarev
14. Sergei Korostin
15. Raymond Sawada
16. David McIntyre
17. Tyler Beskorowany
18. Aaron Gagnon
19. Tyler Shelast
20. Mike Bergin
HM Matt Tassone and Colton Sceviour

I like how you discard everyone whose time has clearly passed to make an impact along with those who are obviously NHL players now. Is that idea affecting Pushkarev though? Because by both proximity and potential measures he should be higher. But if you think he's not going to make the team then it makes more sense.

That's pretty high on Winkler so soon. Are you basing that on dev camp and Tippett's quotes?

I also think there might be a little homerism on Sacchetti at #4.. I'd probably put him at 6 behind Bachman and Benn.

Edit: mistake on not reading the post through.

On the NHLers(If I ranked them)
Crombeen would be right below Sawada, since Crombeen still has the skating issue it takes him so long to get to full speed. Stephan I was going to originally include, but since he's locked in as the backup wasn't much of a point.
Conner is just a depth forward in the Western Conference, he can find a spot over in the East.

Pushkarev I'm not sure on at all, he's extremely skilled and that, but for some reason I don't really think he's going to make the roster, even though I'd like him to. He probably could be a bit higher then Roman and Wandell but have to factor in if Pushkarev doesn't make the roster he has to clear waivers to be assigned to the minors and probably would get claimed.

Not really every scouting report on Winkler he's sounds just very similar to another player I was quite high on in Justin Jokinen.

Not really most people will probably have those 3 in any order 4-6.

I wasn't being sarcastic. I really do like the way you set up your rankings.

I, personally, would have put Sacchetti and Winkler lower while I would have put Sawada and Pushkarev higher. just my 2 cents.

Well this quote was right after the draft in the newspaper here, the online link doesn't work anymore.

Dallas Stars scout Bob Gernander, who lives in Bovey, watched Jokinen play on numerous occasions and came away impressed.

“He has a lot assets you need, such as speed and size, and he’s very good with his hands,” Gernander said. “I think he will be a skilled player and have a good future.

“They got a guy with a lot more potential than a lot of people think.”
The thing he didn't mention, he has a extremely quick shot(like Winkler has), which I viewed Jokinen as a 2nd line right wing once he fills out. (6'2 175ish)

HF's scouting report on him is quite accurate.

Also Gernanders scouting report from last year posted on the official site.
Quote:
Bob Gernander, Dallas' Minnesota scout on Sacchetti: "Nico has a big time shot and has always been a scorer. He has good speed, good puck skills, and a great set of hands and vision. He is a creative player who led his league in scoring at least two years. He is a Luc Robitaille type player."
I'd post my scouting report but it's extremely similar to the other two so not much of a point.

July 29th NHL.com is going to a Stars prospect review I don't think it's going to be that in depth.

Are you calling the NHL liars? The title of the piece is "NHL.com goes in depth on team prospects".

I never expect much from nhl.com. They make so many errors it's a joke for a official site.
It's funny to look back at what they wrote on the season previews from last year.

then last years summer prospect review
