That could be a good place for him, surely better than playing in Europe. I still doubt he makes the NHL, but wish him luck.

Not really but he should be a good fit in Hamilton i guess.

That's assuming that all is true because i haven't seen a link/source myself.

Edit : NVM there is a link now.

Shawn Belle is an ex first rounder in the famous 2003 entry draft. He never really pans out...
Anyways, good trade, Locke had no future with us and we have a couple of good centers coming this year in Hamilton... As for Belle, he will go in Hamilton or at the very best battle for the spot of 7th defenseman.

Gainey is getting rid of all those small centers who weren't panning out in the AHL, finally, it was time for a big cleaning !

Very interesting. He's still pretty young and has decent upside. Good for Corey too, hopefully he makes the NHL one day.

Very strange to see us dealing away all our centre depth...Though I never really thought Grabo or Locke ever really had NHL potential.

Is this the same Belle that was at the World Juniors 2-3 years ago?

I guess this means Maxwell is going to be counted on bigtime in Hamilton.

I like his size, 6ft 2 in, 232 lbs. Maybe he can be developed within the Habs system.

I see that as a positive, the habs have been very good in developing players lately and Belle certainly isn't too old to get better. Nobody was impressed when Georges came in, and he has now earned himself a three years deal, so we never know. Corey Locke didn't have a realistic show at our roster anyway, so good for him.

You can never have too many NHL capable defensemen in the minors!

+1. He was never gonna fit in our permanent lineup, so we get a player in Belle who is still developing and could maybe fit in somewhere down the road. Helps out in Hamilton as well.

we need the room in hamilton so Chips and Maxwell can be the top 2 centres..... White 3rd.....

Cause Mats is coming to Montreal... and has a deal with Gainey... to be announced in August...

I don't believe this.. but it adds more fuel to the fire.

Belle has all the physical tools to be an NHL player. Unfortunately he needs to improve at the mental aspects of the game. In his brief activity with the Wild, he looked promising. But I think he flatlined last year. Maybe a new prganization will help him out.
