Reason: Added to List
Last year, Svitov, Perezhogin, Ekman, Bulis, Esche, Danil Markov, Kasparatis, Saprykin etc. signed in Russia. Except the rumor surronding Radulov, the situation hasn't changed so much.
Personally, any players who leave because of MORE MONEY I lose respect for.
Why it's the same thing as a free agent signing with the team who pays him the most. You can't look at it as they're owned by the NHL, they sign a contract with a NHL team and when it's up they're free to sign with any team in any league.
Nah, only homesick babies and washed up NHL'ers will sign there. Thus, to prevent more homesick baby incidents less russians will get drafted into the superior league, and their lack of playing in the superior league will make them easy to squash internationally thus crushing their russian pride.

I pray statements like this only come from kids who haven't had to work for a living yet. Most of these guys gave up chances at a college education to chase their dream of being pro hockey players. They play a highly competitive sport where one injury can ruin any chance at future income and that injury can come at any time. What's left to fall back on then, aside from the money they earned in their careers? That high school education isn't going to get 'em too far in life.
Personally, any players who leave NORTH AMERICA because of MORE MONEY I lose respect for.
I doubt you loose respect for the Zetterbergs, Backstroms, Lundqvists, etc for leaving... do you? - These guys will be(are) making 5mil+, there's no way they'd be making that in Sweden, Finland, Switzerland, Germany, etc.

So, I guess you hate anyone who tries to earn a living for themselves, right? Say a single mother works minimum wage at a fast-food joint, but gets offered a job at a restaurant for more money.
You're saying she'd lose your respect? Well, if that is the case then I'm pretty sure she won't give a rat's ass about your opinion.

For every "homesick Russian" (as you so eloquently put it) there is one committed to playing in the best professional hockey league. Filatov is one that has even expressed a willingness to play Juniors should the Blue Jackets feel it is necessary.
Not all Russians should be branded the same way. Your post came off as quite negative and belittling.

And if they sign a contract with a KHL team while their NHL contract is still valid, then what?

What a dumb remark.
That's the main motivation for Ovechkin, Kovalchuk, Malkin, Datysuk, Lidstrom...heck most European players to leave behind families (sometimes even girlfriends/ wifes) & friends to play in North America. I guess you already have lost respect for them?

These Countrys are not in the KHL and the Teams in that Countrys can`t pay that money. The KHL is a League of the former Soviet Union and there is the Money!
I think Player without that big Vision for the Future in the NHL will go for big Money in Russia. Maybe also more big Player like Jagr at the End of the Career. But i dont think Player in the Prime will go to Russia.
If I was Mats Sundin, even if my heart wasn't 100% in it I'd take that 20 million like a man, because that's retirement money right there. That's a big deal for his foreseeable future. I mean with Marian Hossa if he takes one year and shaves a couple mil off it's not too big a deal. He's young and he'll get his big deal after he gets his Stanley cup.
When Hagman and Miettenen left Dallas I respected it because they were both getting paydays. I was mostly happy for Hagman and was glad we got rid of Mittenhands, but good for them. They're making NHL money, money they couldn't make in Finland. It'll help their families and everything, so it was cool.

HAHA What a laugh. Whats 20 million going to get you that 15 million won't when your already a multi millionaire.Taking a little less money to win that thing that you have played your whole career for and never won is a dream that most N.A. can only wish for. This late in his career if money is his top prioity to keep playing in his cup-less than maybe it's time he hangs up his skates .I guess thats the difference between Europeans and N.A. .If we,re financially secure we
will take the guts and the glory [cup] over money anytime.
