Brent Burns

Hey guys... Panther fan here...

I am in the middle of my fantasy draft and my pick is upcoming and I feel like it may be a little early for him but I really like him and dont pick for awhlie so here is my question... Radulov, Michelak, Jeff Carter and Johan Frazen are all avail.. As well as Boyle, Erik Johnson, Kaberle and Shea Weber... Its a keeper league and I have a solid offense already so I kinda wanted to reach for Burns, what do you guys, Wild fans think? Thanks for any help!

Burns would be a GREAT pickup, but EJ is there.

That would be a tough choice, espicially if u like Burns more than EJ. EJ has the potential to be a great #1, franchise player, but Burns atm is much more proven and plays like a #1, but EJ may have more upside.

Take Burns... he will only get better. EJ is the higher ceiling pick but Burns is the safer pick.

Burns is no where to be found on the NHL.com's list of top defenseman in the Northwest ... ... I'm not sure what to make of this. I guess he still has a lot to prove.

"Phaneuf leads way among Northwest defenseman"

1. Phaneuf
2. Souray
3. Ohlund
4. Johnsson
5. Foote

Burns is better anyone on that list not named Dion.

Souray can't play D like Burns, Ohlund has lost a step, Johnsson over Burns? articles credibility ends right there.

The list is based on ice time. Burns was right behind that top-5 last year. He should see more ice time this year.

I have a question- I picked Burns in a middle round pick and was thrilled to get him. I am slightly concerned from a fantasy perspective that with Foster back (?almost), Zidlicky and MA Bergeron that Burns will lose his number 1 PP time.

Is there any basis to this fear?

Thanks guys

Burns hasn't seen #1 PP time for a full year yet. I suspect he will this year. Zidlicky doesn't replace Burns, since Zidlicky doesn't have Burns' big shot. And Bergeron may not play every game. You need Burns back there for better defense too.

I wouldn't be worried. In fact I'd be excited. Burns should see more PP time than last year, and a PP duo of Burns and Zidlicky/Bergeron should be very good.

Almost Foster might not be back until late in December at best.

hey guys i took Burns in my draft too, i think in the 6th round, but now next to his name on my roster there is an "O", meaning he's out due to an injury. is he going to miss the start of the season this year or do you guys think he'll be good to go come October?

He's out for 4 weeks.

So he will miss training camp but should be ready for the season.

He only injured himself like a week or a few days ago. So keep counting down

Burns is being touted for Team Canada, Rolston was all over him last year saying he would be a Norris regular.

Foster isn't anywhere near, MAB will see some press time and Zidlicky should help Burns, not hinder him.

i picked him up in my fantasy team as well. I've got great defense since i've got Burns, Phaneuf, Rozsival, and Blake(don't hate on that one, i hope for a san jose blake revival lol)

Burns should be ready to go very soon. Nothing should hinder him from being ready for the opener.

So what's the story with Johnsson? Who will he be paired with and on which pairing?

Hard to tell at this point, as we have so many new faces on D. He is definitely in the top 4, with Burns, Zidlicky, and Schultz.
