Jason Strudwick an Oiler is now OFFICIAL - TEAM 1260/630 CHED
I just got home and am pretty buzzed. I looked for a thread on here but didn't see it. Someone over on CP has a rumor thread going stating we signed Jason Strudwick as Team 1260 is talking about it tonight. Can anyone confirm?
If this is in another thread, I am sorry and don't kill me.
EDIT: OFFICIAL. Strudwick signs a 1 year deal with the Oilers.

I was listening to the TEAM, and I can confirm that they were talking about it.
Will Fraser was saying that he had a source that spoke with Strudwick, who said that he had signed with the Oilers. Strudwick is tight with Jason Gregor and his show, so I wouldn't be surprised if they confirmed it later tonight while he is still on air.

I heard it too. Just went to you tube and he looks like a decent fighter who stick up for his teammates. Stuck up for Avery of all people last year and beat Cote.
That would be cool... He came to visit my grade 6 class many many years ago when he was still playing with the Canucks. The guy was my hero for at least a year after that :p

I was listening in, they had Steve Montador more than Strudwick. Strudwick would be a nice fit here, as long as he is under 1 mil/year. not so sure about Montador.
-We have like 9 D already
-He's not a great enforcer
-His BTN numbers were poor
There must be a trade on the way if this is true.
I have seen listed as a dual D man and LW on some sites. If that is true not a bad guy to have in the press box as he can fill in on the blue line or up front.
I have only looked at a couple of You Tube vids on him so far. But he really held his own with guys like Colton Orr and Chris Neil. He pounded Riley Cote from the Flyers pretty nicely.
Not necessarily a top 3 or 4 fighter but the guy is big and can hold his own. The more you tube I watch on him a lot of his fights seem to be coming to defense of team mates.

Not a big fish, but an ok vetran depth defenceman with size from the Scott Ferguson tree of NHL defencemen who may not help out much, but he also isn't going to hurt you. And he's an Edmonton boy, so that's a plus.
Here's the lowdown:
- 6'4", 225lbs
- 1-1-2, EV in 52 games for the Rangers last year
- 11:58 of ice at ES (last among Ranger Dmen)
- 00:53 of ice at ES (also last)
- 5 seconds a game on the powerplay (hey, it's 5 more seconds Ivan Baranka got in his one NHL game)
- he had the best road +/- of all Ranger defencemen at +3 (worst at home with -3)
- played the softest opposition amongst the Rangers last year with below average linemates and had pretty average results.
If this is true, it looks like Matty Roy may have just lost his job as the Oilers' 7th defenceman.
Strudwick is a decent depth player and I'd rather have him sitting in the pressbox as the #7 guy than Roy (who could very well end up on the IR again leaving us to call up a rookie).

Good, the only thing Roy was good at, was getting concussions

They were saying Montador to Oilers too? He's a better player then Strudwick but i'm sure his price tag is a little higher.
I liked Matty Roy though, he would come back from a concussion and would still be the first one in to stick up for teammates. I still think he will end up a solid 4-6 guy down the line.
