He's playing with Ben Breault at center and, I think, Marc-Olivier Vallerand on the left wing. Breault wears 36. The LWer's jersey ends in a 5 and I think his number was 15 which would be Vallerand.
Kugryshev wears number 17.
Pretty good feed...
Yep, Breault and Vallard.
Weird watching Breault with another Caps prospect. I spent half of last year checking these feeds to see if Bouchard was with playing with Breault or stuck on a second line in Baie Comeau. Breault's a little water bug, great little skater for the Q but he can be a little stubborn and selfish with his rushes. Has games where he'll just constantly wind up and rush the puck into a wall of D without really looking up to take in what's around him.
He's a classic example of having a ton of success in the Q that isn't likely to translate past junior IMO. Stefanovich is playing with Allard as his centre, who I'm not very familiar with so I'm happy Koug is skating with Breault for now - he's a proven threat/producer at this level.
Drummondville has pretty much carried the play in the first. Kouger hasn't had many touches with the puck yet, his line isn't getting much done. Stefanovich is the Remparts best player thus far.
kouger on the ice shift after a drummondville goal.
Not sure how much that matters in the Q or if his line was just next in the rotation. I'm not really familiar with the coaching styles/tactics of the CHL.
The QMJHL website has the lw's name as vallarand...wondered why i hadn't heard that yet if it's wrong.
Actually, I think it was me who got the name wrong. It is Vallerand. I was going on my poor and rusty ear for French. Speaking of Vallarend, he's ticking me off. Last two shifts Kouger started to streak on the break into the neutral zone and Vallerand missed him with a pass by a 10 feet or more.
Poor Kouger has hardly had a touch on the puck yet tonight. That line isn't clicking as of yet.
You're right about the Remparts announcer, he's got a bad man crush for Stefanovich.
Kugryshev's last shift included some puck possession/board work behind drummondville's net. But it doesn't look like the remparts can get much going. Kouger needs the puck!
Kugyshev just had a nice opportunity in front of the net at the end of the period but he held the puck a bit too long. A shot would have been nice from 10 feet out, but I think he wanted to make a pass to the guy on the backdoor.
Quebec's announcer is a big fan of the team and he knows every player personally because he travels with them, he gives them nicknames, he should find one for Kugryshev in the next few weeks!
I was at the game and the whole team played poorly. Kuger had his nice moments, but in his own zone... He needs to work on that and his game when he does not have the puck.
Vallerand played on Breault and Kuger's line because Roy wants a more "defensive" player on their line. Personally, I would have chosen Gilbert before Vallerand, but Vallerand is older and more responsible defensively. I would like to see a line Stefanovich - Tessier - Kugryshev. Usually, Stefanovich is a RW like Kuger, but tonight he played LW. It was the first game the team was complete, so Roy still need to find the right combinations.
As for Allard, he's a 5th round pick of the Buffalo Sabres in 2007. He's an excellent playmaker, I think he is better than Breault, he works harder that's for sure.
In the shootout, I was more than confident that we would win. I've never seen Kugryshev missing his shot when he is 1-on-1 with the goalie!
I saw today why Washington said Kugryshev should improve his fitness. He wasn't bad, but he just lacked energy tonight. He had a tripping penalty because he didn't have the energy to go catch the guy.
0 point, 2 PIM and a +/- of 0 in a 4-3 win in overtime.
AllIsFehrNLoveAndWar: No, he was playing with Tessier and Vallerand, but his goal happened on the PP, and his two assists were on goals by players who weren't playing on his line.
CapitalsCup2010: No problem, I'll post on the other thread next time.
