Jon 'Nasty' Mirasty Re-Signs with Crunch!

This was from the Crunch website:

Crunch Keep that Nasty Feeling for 08-09 Season

Ink Popular Enforcer to AHL Contract

Syracuse, NY (June 18, 2008) – The Syracuse Crunch announced today that they have re-signed left wing Jon Mirasty to an American Hockey League contract. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Mirasty, 26, appeared in 55 games for the Crunch last season, notching 1 goal, 2 assists and 181 penalty minutes. After spending three seasons in the Western Hockey League (WHL) with Prince Albert, Tri-City and Moose Jaw, Mirasty moved on to the professional ranks, appearing in 184 combined games with Bakersfield (ECHL), Greenville (ECHL), Sorel-Tracy (LNAH) and Danbury (UHL) from 2001-07, tallying 9 goals, 23 assists and 1,406 penalty minutes.

A native of Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan, Mirasty was signed by Syracuse to a professional try-out contract on October 3, 2007. He was later signed by Syracuse to an AHL contract on December 6, 2007.

LOL! Keep that Nasty Feeling! That's classic! That whole city loved those tough as nails guys.

And to think a year ago we were talking about the "rumors" that Mirasty was going to the Crunch camp and whether he would stick around past the pre-season or not. Guess he proved a lot of the naysayers wrong, eh?

Jody Shelley, Brandon Sugden, now Jon Mirasty. Those guys in Syracuse love their fighters. Wish the rest of the league would follow suit! Would put more butts in the seats...

After seeing him play last year, I hope he's on the ice a lot this season.

He's gotten better than he used to be. He's getting better at the positioning and defense aspect. He obviously needs to keep improving his skating, but he improved a lot on that from preseason to the season last year. He worked hard, hopefully he keeps improving on that and won't be as one dimensional.
